We reviewed t-test and correlational studies. We explored the difference between these two approaches. We also specifically looked at how to interpret the output from each of these analyses. We also talked a bit about the p-value and how to interpret it. In general the student is a quick learner and appeared to grasp the concepts that we explored. We also went over some homework problems and the weekly discussion question for her online class. I feel confident that she is making great strides and has a good basic understanding of the concepts that we have covered thus far and their utility in practice.

The student shared that he did well on his last test. We covered local linearization of functions and went through practice problems. We then looked at differentials and what they told us about a function. He then was given three problems to work on to gauge his understanding of the material. He understood the main concepts of how to do the problems without help from me. I emailed him and his parents some online practice for him to complete in preparation for our session on Thursday.

The student and I spent today preparing for his science test--he is in good shape. We made a detailed study plan together, and I helped him start to make flashcards to study with in my absence. I believe he can do very well on the test if he continues to review--he was able to grasp everything we went over today quickly.

Tutoring review by Steven in Franklin Lakes, NJ
We were covering financial concepts in this particular lesson. The content was somewhat difficult because she was working on calculating mortgage payments for an annual s payment, monthly, biweekly, and weekly payments and the formulas required to do this were not readily available so we had to research them. We did other financial calculations but I would say this was the most grueling topic she had covered so far. And in the end, she mastered it!
