Tutoring review by Elizabeth in Barrington, NJ
I reviewed fractions, division, and graphs with the student this week. She did well with the graph worksheet. She read the graph and added the columns and rows to calculate the answers to the questions. I also gave her a division worksheet where she reviewed basic math facts. The only one she missed was 36 divided by 9. Finally, we looked at Chapter 6 in her textbook, which she will be covering next week in math class. We worked with unlike fractions by changing them to equivalent fractions, and then she worked on writing fractions of a set. Next week we are not meeting, but we will continue the following week.

Tutoring review by Jonathan in Barrington, NJ
The student and I went mainly over his Chapter 9 practice test, as well as assorted problems from his old tests and test retakes. He was very receptive to the example problems I created that were similar to his practice test, and was eager to use the notes that I took so that he could follow along while working on the actual problems. Overall, he is a very easy student to tutor, eager to learn, and was very open to my methods of explanation throughout the session.

Tutoring review by Hannah in Barrington, NJ
Today we completed the student's study guide for his test. The student did a good job when answering about half of the problems, but the other half he did need me to walk him through each problem. Also, we are going to review the study guide again.

The student is preparing for a test covering radical expressions and equations. We spent time rationalizing the denominator and using the "isolate-eliminate-solve" approach to solving radical equations. The session went very well.

Tutoring review by Julian in Barrington, NJ
We covered solving triangles and finding areas of triangles as well. The student has a very good grasp on the material. He is very confident about the work. He's come a long way from where we started. We covered some strategies in the last session. He memorized them, and he applies them efficiently. He has learned the law of cosines and sines very well. He knows how to apply them, use them, and solve every known piece of the triangle.
