Tutoring review by William in Vineland, NJ
This was our first session working on statistics. Work concentrated on homework problems concerning correlation. Mostly problems were about dispersion around the regression line. The student seemed fairly comfortable with the material, but was able to benefit from a more detailed knowledge about when linear models do and don't apply. We work out the basics of our schedule going forward, as well as how she could easily get material to me so that I can review it beforehand.

Tutoring review by David in Vineland, NJ
We worked through the one question the student wasn't sure about, and clarified a bunch of ideas while we did so. The problem was a weird one, since a lot of the concepts that they're trying to emphasize just didn't exist in our case. Anyway, I taught her a general way to un-derive things, which is useful and incredibly important later on, and gave her some tips for graphing things based on their first and second derivatives. I then gave an example of a function in the context of these derivatives, in particular a very cool function that underlies all fundamental particles and could technically let you teleport anywhere in the universe. No big deal.
