Session Summaries by LSAT Tutors

LSAT Tutoring review by Michael in Provo, UT
Tonight, we covered two practice tests that the student completed after our last session. She scored around a 150 on both of them, which is an improvement from the 145 she scored on the test last December. We are focusing on puzzles, especially grid games during this session. She is making steady improvements, and with continued practice, she should see increased scores over the next few weeks. She is continuing to work on argument and passages, mostly on her own, to make sure that she is improving on those sections as well.

We continued with targeted review of Logic Games and Logical Reasoning. We also did 1 passage of RC with no changes. The student is still doing quite well in that area. For the Logical Reasoning, I gave him 3 topics to review online. We did 2 more complex grouping games as well.

LSAT Tutoring review by Rebecca in Provo, UT
We covered every section of the test except for the essay; the student is improving in both time management and strategies on the logic games, which is the section she feels the most anxiety about. She stated that that section is starting to "click" for her. In future sessions, we are going to focus on the games and also more on logical reasoning and reading; she does better in these sections, but we want to build up as many points as possible on her easier sections to take the pressure off of her on the logic games. She should be completing an essay and taking a practice test between now and our session on Sunday.

We covered Logical Reasoning: Conditional logic, causation correlation, how the wording of the question tells you what to look for, how to analyze and diagram. The correct answer should appear easily if you understand the question and know what sort of thing you're looking for. Logic Games: Again, conditional logic. Different types of questions: could be true, cannot be true, must be true. How to work out counterexamples on a table. How your work on the table should help you rule out answer choices.
