Session Summaries by GMAT Tutors

GMAT Tutoring review by Michael in Provo, UT
Tonight, we covered several puzzles and several arguments that the student wanted to cover on the most recent practice test that she completed. She scored very well on it. She has a very solid skill set and actively participates in the questions, engaging with the test without me walking her through every concept. She is doing very well, and with continued practice she should be able to reproduce her great scores on test day. She is going to complete at least one full practice test for our next session and should make sure to be strict on where her score would be with the test time limits.

GMAT Tutoring review by Scott in Provo, UT
We continued with review. The student has worked halfway through the Logic Games prep book, so we did a couple logic games, one ordering, one grouping, focusing on making deductions after each question. We also did a few logical reasoning questions and RC, focusing on identifying conclusions and then looking for linkages.

GMAT Tutoring review by Erica in Provo, UT
We continued working through the logical reasoning book, especially justify/strengthen questions. Based on what we covered, the student should focus particularly on justify and method of reasoning questions. He should choose a practice test that he will not be using as a timed practice exam and pull out questions with the relevant stems to answer. For our next meeting, he is to finish reading through the prep book and flag any issues.

GMAT Tutoring review by Kory in Provo, UT
We covered all areas of the LSAT, spending a majority of the time on Logic Games. The student seems to have an excellent grasp of the Reading sections and does well on Logical Reasoning as well. She has also made considerable progress on Logic Games. I will be sending her the links to diagnostic tests so we can check her progress as she gets ready to take the real exam.

GMAT Tutoring review by Rebecca in Provo, UT
We covered all sections of the test, focusing again on reading comprehension and logical reasoning. The student got 7 questions in a row correct on reading comprehension, which is a great improvement! Logical reasoning is also getting quicker, and we worked specifically on diagramming an argument in order to find the analogous argument answer. The logic game section is the student's strongest area right now, and next week, we will work on timing that section. I assigned some homework for the week, including reading, logical reasoning, and an essay.

GMAT Tutoring review by Arjun in Provo, UT
We covered conditional reasoning: valid inference, contrapositive, necessary and sufficient conditions, counterexamples, and transitive rules. We went over some puzzles to get some practice applying the principles. Then we did some logic games. I talked about diagramming, how to rule out several answer choices, how to recognize themes within a game and use them to get more efficient.
