Hello to all my students! My name is Irfan, and I am more than happy to help. I am a medical doctor with strengths in anatomy, biology, and several other sciences. I was once where you were, and I fully understand that sometimes some subjects are just too difficult to understand. I believe, however, from my experience that no subject is too difficult. The key is to break down the topics in simpler terms that are easy to digest! After that, you will be able to tackle anything. I am here to assist you on your journey and look forward to working with you! :)

Do you "hate" math? I want to help! Together, we will pinpoint your weaknesses in whatever you are taking---algebra, calculus, geometry, even basic arithmetic! We will practice to boost your performance like you never thought possible! Most importantly, we will work on time management so that you can excel in math while also enjoying your hobbies or extracurricular activities!Who am I? Well, I was born and raised in California, but now, I am loving life on Long Island! I am currently a graduate physics student at Stony Brook University, and I am proud to have been recently accepted to the US Navy's nuclear program!
My name is Rohan, and I recently graduated from Stony Brook University with a BS in psychology. I am starting medical school in the fall of 2017, and I hope I can use my current free time to help others achieve their academic goals. I want to be a tutor because I enjoy helping people learn. I have been a teaching assistant for two different biology classes during college, and those were hands-down my favorite experiences during my undergraduate time. Also, I truly believe that teaching others helps me learn the material at a higher level. As a future doctor, it is very important to be able to teach people things. You want to be able to express yourself to other students and patients and talk to them in a vernacular that they can understand. You want to create analogies and tell stories that are helpful; only then will people actually internalize the information and actually be able to apply it to different problems and in the real world. I promise to give my full time and effort to each of my students, and I cant wait to embark on a new journey with all of them.
I am currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Liberal Studies (MA/LS) with focus on Business and Marketing at Stony Brook University, NY, USA. Since 2008, I have been working as a Teaching Assistant and Substitute Teacher in private and public schools in NY USA.I have served for three years as the Head of the Business & Marketing Department in Bahria College, Islamabad, Pakistan. During my time as Head, I worked directly under the Principal to develop new curricula for A’ Levels and O’ Levels, interviewing new candidates, organizing college-wide events, organizing tours for new students and managing all associated paperwork and correspondence.Simultaneously, I had the privilege of teaching economics and business studies to the O’ & A’ Levels (the British System equivalent to Grade 9-12 & first two years of Undergraduate Studies). In that capacity, I strongly believe in a philosophy of lifelong learning to meet the challenges of global competence. Keeping this vision in mind, I have been able to remain sensitive to the needs of students for exploring comprehensive multi-disciplinary studies, preparation for work, academic and social competence and a sense of citizenship that incorporates the cultures of all students into instruction. These are some of the courses I have completed towards accomplishing my Master of Arts in Liberal Studies (MA/LS) that have widened my perspective and vision towards HR and its relation with the Business needs and Management: Ethics in Management, Organizational Change Management, Foundations of Human Resource Management, Survey of Labor/Employment Relations, HR Management Workshop, and The Uses and Abuses of Technology.
My name is Nim. I graduated cum laude and departmental honors with a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, and a minor in Writing & Rhetoric. In college, I realized that certain classes can be an obstacle for students as there are not enough of a friendly environment for them to express their concerns. For my tutoring approach, I first let students know that it is okay to make mistakes and that practice can help you improve progressively. I try to allow students express concerns they have regarding to the material presented from class and then we directly approach the lesson by having an understanding of what the student does or does not know. After the lesson, I would review the points that we learned and having a goal of students practicing material on their own. The method can be adjusted based on student's individual needs. I have a year experience in teaching organic chemistry and physical chemistry in college. I worked directly with any students who needed additional assistance, but also focus on one-on-one tutoring. These were the students who needed extra help, so I work with them during class to make sure they didn't fall behind and clarify questions they might have. I held review sessions in Organic Chemistry, where I choose questions to review and occasionally teach important points to understand in a topic. I want to benefit the students I work with as much as possible, therefore I welcome any feedback from the students can provide. I am easy to reach and will always provide fast responses. Feel free to contact me with any additional questions or to schedule a lesson.
I graduated from Stony Brook University Cum Laude with a B.A. in History and French Language and Literature, focusing my History major on Modern European History. During my early college days I also spent time as a journalism student and spent time tutoring for the SAT writing section. These two experiences, along with my eventual alignment with French literature and history, developed my writing skills and made it one of my strongest and most comfortable subjects. History has been a lifelong love of mine and my energy and passion to teach is derived, in large part, from my fascination with mankind's past. I find that history has, for me, the most natural feel when it comes to teaching because the act thereof does not simply entail the recital of fact, but rather the recounting of a greater narrative within which the facts and specific events of the past may be found. Outside of academia, I am an avid reader, enjoying works in both French and English, and take joy in traveling, football, and various types of games, including those played with cards, boards, or on television screens.

I am a third year medical student at Wayne State University tutoring math and science. I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Stony Brook University with a major in Biochemistry. I first developed my passion for teaching from 7 years of experience as a martial arts and boxing instructor. I was able to develop my tutoring skill during my time at Stony Brook where I worked as both a calculus tutor and a chemistry teaching assistant. Yes, I am a nerd but you will find that I am very personable and really care about helping students reach their full potential!
My name is Arooba Amjad and I am a recent college graduate! I graduated from Stony Brook University with a degree in Interdisciplinary Biology. While at Stony Brook, I was a part of many organizations that helped me develop key communications skills that I like to implement in my teaching. I have dealt with many different types of professors in my biology courses and understand that certain learning methods that essentially work for me might not be ideal for someone else. I hope to really get to know my students in order to see them succeed.Aside from studying and teaching I really like to sit back and watch movies and shows! I love crime and drama related shows that have me screaming at the TV.I won't bore you with my teaching experiences because my resume includes my teaching experiences. I have taught a wide variety of age groups and subjects. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me.
My mission is to use my educational backing to give eager students the opportunity to acquire the assistance they need in achieving their academic goals. Being a strong student myself, I understand the dedication and effort required to excel in school and therefore I would be able to instill noteworthy values (such as time management, effective organization, and self-discipline) into prospective students who want to advance in their life. Through hard work and persistence, I will try my best to give students the ability to become more efficient in scholarly aspects as well as develop a versatile academic background. Since I am focusing my efforts on specialized exams, I will first analyze the strengths and weaknesses of the student and then provide the necessary materials accordingly in order to enhance their skills. Being that I have tutored students before, I know how to appropriately approach and assimilate to the students needs and wants. With my help, students will be able to easily reach their maximum potential and progress towards the next milestone in their life.
I tutor math at virtually all levels from elementary to high school. I'm a math major who recently graduated magna cum laude from Stony Brook University as an Honors College student. I'm happy to help any way I can!Ever since I was young, I've been highly passionate about math. I find it fascinating that nearly every physical aspect of the universe can be described uniformly by a single symbolic language. Math is very abstract, however, and I understand that despite societal pressure to understand it for its applications, many students struggle with it or fail to understand why it's important. I hope to help kindle (or rekindle) an excited spirit of discovery within students that I work with, or at least give them an appreciation for why math is useful and necessary.Though my main passion is math, I have a growing appreciation for creative things as well. In my free time, I like to design games, draw on my tablet, and compose music. I'm not amazing at any of these things, but I'm still learning, and I'm in awe at how much math is involved with all three of them! Of course, this doesn't surprise me that much; I see math as more than just computations and numerical manipulation but as the art of logical statements. So, if you decide you want to work with me, I hope to not only help you understand the math you need to know to pass that class or to refresh yourself on material you need for your career, but also increase your appreciation for a subject that nearly everyone is exposed to but not many truly understand. I'm happy to help in any way I can!
I have been a tutor for over five years, and my primary goal is to make students more independent. There are multiple ways I try to achieve this goal.First, I see a student's ability to do the basic operations: add, subtract, multiply, and divide. This is the basis of most math, and the more proficient (s)he is, the easier and faster learning a topic will be. I try to make a student rely on memory instead of counting on fingers when doing problems because it makes a problem longer to solve. Once a student deals with variables, those fundamental skills are needed.Second, repetition is a key to success. Continuously going over a topic will help a student understand the steps needed to do a problem. Even if a student understands the topic well, I will go over it step by step with one or two examples. Immediately after, I will ask a student to do a problem with me, so the (s)he can participate in the discussion and slowly build confidence and comprehension. If I feel a student is ready to do a problem independently, I will give a problem for independent practice. If (s)he answers it successfully, then I move onto a more difficult problem. This leads to my third practice.Lastly, what I demand of my students is regurgitation. Can the student explain to me what (s)he was doing with confidence? If so, then we continue with the work. If not, then I repeat the process of giving problems while instructing. Now, students may not understand a topic completely, so I tell them to look over it at home. The next time I see them, I give one or two problems on the topic we just went over as review. If the student recalls the steps and recites them, (s)he is that much closer to being an independent student.
