I am an experienced math tutor and have tutored all math levels from pre-algebra to multivariable calculus/differential equations. I served as the mathematics tutor for my undergraduate university's college of engineering where I worked with college students on achieving success in their courses. My teaching philosophy is that anyone can learn and achieve mastery in math, we just have to figure out what the best way to break down concepts is and simplify steps as much as possible. There are many, many ways to approach math problems, the trick is finding the one that makes to most sense to each individual. I hold a double bachelors degree in Applied Mathematics and Economics from Stony Brook University and am working on my PhD in Economics.

I am a recent medical school graduate from Dow University. Using proven techniques to memorize and understand key concepts, I teach my students how to break down the most difficult questions. It can be an overwhelming task to memorize the massive amount of information expected of a student in an anatomy or physiology course. The key is not memorization, but pacing yourself, practice and placing key concepts at the beginning and end of each session. Having a basic understanding of how our brain memorizes and processes information is an essential prerequisite for all students. I have over 5 years of tutoring experience from medical school in subjects including Anatomy, Physiology, Pharmacology, Microbiology and many other health sciences courses.
I first became interested in tutoring while I was pursuing my Bachelor of Science degree in Integrated Biology at the University of Vermont. I had a wonderful supplemental instructor the first semester of my freshman year, and my experience working with her and having her help me excel made me want to do the same for others. That initial transition into college was difficult for me, but with my tutors help I ended up finishing that first semester strong with a 4.0 GPA. Like my first tutor, I strive to provide students with the skills necessary for them to excel. I want to cultivate open minds, help students look at the world critically, and most of all help them believe in their own capacity to be great. At the start of my sophomore year of college and until graduation, I myself started to work as a University tutor and supplemental instructor in Biology, Calculus and Chemistry. Because I worked for the university in the "Center for Academic Success", tutors were held to a very high standard for their understanding of the material. My boss would regularly come in unannounced when I was tutoring to evaluate and confirm my ability to teach at a high level. I worked 10-20 hours per week tutoring college students in addition to attending school full time and playing on the University club hockey team. My responsibilities as a tutor included developing lesson plans, interactive sessions, games, and teaching one-on-one or to a group in a classroom setting. Balancing a job, education, and sport helped me develop important time management and organizational skills. Likewise, being on a team teaches one responsibility, dependability and the importance of working together as a team.In addition to tutoring in a classroom session, I also have worked for several years as a surgical dental assistant and am now pursuing my Doctorate in Dental Surgery at Stony Brook University School of Dental Medicine. Working as a surgical dental assistant helped me think of problems in a new way. It took the educational knowledge I had and applied that to real life settings. The real world is not like a text book or exam. It is messy and things may not go as planned. Working with patients in a medical setting has shown me this the hard way and has taught me to think outside the box.I decided to go into Dentistry after college because I enjoy healthcare, helping others, and I wanted a profession where I can continue to teach everyday. Educating my patients about the fundamentals of proper oral health is crucial to long term prognosis and I believe the same is true for students when tutoring. Along with the foundations, proper communication, passion, trust, creating a welcoming atmosphere, and extensive scientific knowledge are all qualities that make up a good dentists and attributes that I strive for which can easily be translated to the tutoring setting. My reason for wanting to return to tutoring once again is simple. I miss it. I miss the joy of helping a student and seeing that "aha" moment occur once everything clicks. From my undergraduate degree in Biology and now soon to be Doctorate in Dental Surgery, I have a vast knowledge of the Biological and Health Sciences that I am looking to share with others that need the help, just like I did that one day not too long ago. I truly look forward to being able to help others learn and excel both within and outside the classroom.
I graduated from Farmingdale State College in 2015 with a B.S. in Applied Psychology. I also earned my Masters degree in Psychology from Stony Brook University.I started tutoring on my own approximately seven years ago. I have tutored over 600 hours and I received an abundance of positive feedback from my students and their parents.I specialize in SAT and ACT preparation for high school student. I am also interested in tutoring college students preparing for the GRE general test. For test preparation, I assign a decent amount of homework each week and I spend the majority of my sessions going over the questions my students answer incorrectly. While all of my "professional" and "academic" qualities are certainly important, I think it's also necessary for you to understand more about me as a person. I consider myself a "nerd" and I am no longer self-conscious about it - it's who I am. I love school, but aside from that I enjoy reading and writing. To me, the smell of a bookstore is like that of a decadent chocolate cake to many others. Although throughout the school year I typically only engage in academic writing, in my down-time I write poetry and I'm working on a young adult novel. I'm an athlete. When I was younger I did karate for about 6.5 years and got my black belt. Finally, during the winter I take pleasure in crocheting. I make hats, blankets, stuffed animals, and anything else I can come up with.

I am biologist passionate about teaching and making peoples lives easier.
I earned my PhD in physics (New York University) and work in nanotechnology research and development. I worked as a teaching assistant throughout my graduate school years (which there were seven of!), also taking on a number of private tutoring students during that time. My teaching experience has been in physics and in several areas of mathematics, from algebra through calculus. I've also tutored my own children successfully through math and physics over the years.I enjoy teaching these subjects because students can be helped to excel in them by learning to think in a quantitative way. This skill is important for life in our technological society. The best way to teach goes beyond "picking the right formula to use." Mastery of this type of subject matter comes from being able to ask "what is it I'm trying to accomplish by asking this question? What is the item - that can be quantified - that I need to extract from the problem material at hand?" Then the formula becomes a tool to aid in turning the data into a solution.
I am currently a medical student in Philadelphia, and have a degree in Biomedical Engineering from Stony Brook University. I have several years of experience tutoring SAT students, but thanks to my mixed background I have proficiency in a wide range of subjects including mathematics, biological sciences, engineering, and physical sciences.I am passionate about teaching, and have taught healthcare sciences to underprivileged high school students in my spare time. My own experience as a student has taught me that learning new subject material can be intimidating, so my teaching philosophy involves a focus on breaking down complex problems into simpler, less daunting components. As a teacher I am most fulfilled when, through systematic instruction and problem-solving, I am able to promote the type of academic confidence that allows students to achieve their full potential.I was a collegiate rugby player and understand the struggles of the student-athlete. However, I firmly believe that many of the qualities that earn success in athletics can also translate to the classroom. I strive to exemplify this balance and motivate students to pursue success in all areas of their life.
I specialize in proofreading and offer guidance in english subject matter. My goal is to assist individuals in becoming more comfortable with topics relating to english and grammar. I very much enjoy writing and I hope to alleviate discomfort associated with writing. I am also proficient in American Sign Language.
I am a graduate of Stony Brook University. I doubled majored in both Applied Mathematics and Psychology. I started my journey of tutoring when I was in high school. During my high school years, I started as a volunteer at a tutoring center assisting Kindergarten kids to 3rd graders with Math, English, and Art. Slowly, I became an afterschool tutor and loved the fulfilling feeling after seeing my student's betterment. Moving on to college, I carried on that passion for tutoring and become a Teacher Assistant for both Multivariable Calculus and Financial Mathematics classes to help my peers with their questions on class materials. After graduating from college, I helped my friend in prepping for her GRE because I wanted her to study more effectively for the test instead of wasting time trying out different studying techniques and various test prep materials. While I tutored a broad range of subjects, I am the most passionate about tutoring math as I have firm confidence in my knowledge of mathematics, and I mostly helped students with their math courses. During my tutoring experiences, I am a tutor who likes to utilize examples and real-life scenarios in my explanation.
With a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in Biomedical Engineering, my education focused heavily in calculus, math at all levels and physics. Biomedical Engineering also helped developed my biological knowledge.I have experience as a TA during my undergrad and graduate years. I have been teaching in a plethora of subjects for more than 2 years. With experience in labs and research, a publish author with three scientific papers, I will be able to help however needs help in these areas.
My first experience with tutoring occurred while helping my family members in multiple math subjects. I then tutored algebra, geometry and physics at my local high school. My love for math and science, specifically chemistry, are driving me to become a chemical engineer. I hope that by showing younger generations real and useful applications of math and science they can become more excited about it. I'm a firm believer in positive attitudes being contagious and my main goal is to eradicate the negative stigma that surrounds math classes. By breaking down classes like algebra, calculus and geometry I can get students to understand simple concepts and then work on compounding these ideas into the "bigger picture" that each of these courses wishes to convey.
