I am a graduate of Stony Brook University with a degree in Biochemistry. I tutored all throughout my college career both in groups and as an individual through the Women in Science and Engineering program. My tutoring philosophy is getting to know how my students learn and then tackle any problems using their strengths. I can explain things a hundred different ways and I won't give up until we feel confident, together, that a concept is understood.

I am excited to work with you! I have my Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics and my Master of Arts in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), also known as English as a Second Language (ESL). I study education primarily focusing on English acquisition and my TESOL certification allows me to teach students K-12. I have extensive experience working with students prepping for Elementary and Intermediate school's State-Wide Tests based on the ELA, Math, and Science Common Core Curriculum. I have a strong linguistics background in syntax, phonetics, phonics, and etc. I am passionate about educating and finding methods of comprehension that best work for you!
I have been tutoring students since high school. It is an aspect of my life that I find very rewarding. To be able to take someone with an attitude of the topic being too hard to being confident enough to approach any challenge. I love showing how a deeper understanding can translate to being able to adapt to any situation you encounter on the test. This approach served me well as both an undergraduate and graduate teaching assistant. This is more than a career for me, it is a life style of constantly learning and sharing knowledge.
I recently graduated from Stony Brook University with a Bachelors of Science in Biology and a Bachelors of Arts in Sociology. While in college, I tutored children in SAT math as well as subjects such as chemistry and biology. I have recently also taken the MCAT and am very passionate about chemistry, biology, biochemistry, psychology and sociology. While tutoring students, I have seen progress in the skills and techniques they acquire for standardized tests. I believe such strategies are important to grasp and I can help them obtains such knowledge. I hope to impart the knowledge I have obtained on future students and help them succeed in their goals.
I am an adjunct professor and freelance writer with a PhD in history. I write and teach a lot about women's studies, cultural history, and transnational studies with a particular emphasis on the Modern Middle East and US-Turk relations. As for teaching and outreach: Ive found that making the material pertinent and connecting it to who you are and where you want to be will make it come alive. Hence, in tutoring and teaching I enjoy teasing out the material into a story. That way we have something to entertain us as we build a timeline and craft a memory of the past, of peoples, and of communities.I'm also the author of numerous books, the most recent being Comics as History, Comics as Literature and book chapters, reference entries, book reviews, and journal articles. My busy publication career deals extensively on nationalism, womens rights, women's liberation, Turkish-US relations, transnational feminism, and travel literature. Most recently I completed two smaller pieces: Failing New Women: Anne Shirleys Legacy, The New Woman, and World War I and Importing the Ethnic: Voyeurism on Your Dinner Plate (concerning the permeation of American Chinese food). Both are due out in the ensuing year, and both were absolute fun to write. In teaching and writing I like to focus on how to engage and make the story come to life.I also publish travel literature and some fiction outside of academia and serve as co-chair of the European Association of American Studies Women's Steering Committee. This past summer I crafted travel writing while spelunking in the Iowas Women's Archives and the Oregon State University Archives, as my co-writer and I have been crafting a discursive examination of food safety, activism, and grassroots women's voices. This project Safety For Our Souls has received funding from several libraries. That being said . . . the fuel that makes this endless hard work worthwhile is engaging students and building skills in creative ways that make the mundane really feel less like work and more like an excursion into something entertaining.
I received my Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering degree at SUNY Stony Brook. I received my Master of Arts in Teaching with a Concentration in Mathematics degree at Quinnipiac University. I taught high school mathematics for 9 years. I tutor Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II. My favorite subject to teach is Geometry, because once I was afraid of Geometry, and now I love it. I want to show my students how not to be afraid! My tutoring style involves lots of questions. I love asking questions to pull prior knowledge out of students, to teach them to utilize the "tools in their toolbox" to solve the problem. They have the knowledge; it is my job to bring them that confidence to pick the right tools to do the job. I love being active! I love to walk, hike, and roller blade. I also like to do strength training. I am a huge football fan. I am a Patriots fan, but I like to watch any team and to see a good game. I enjoy inviting friends and family over on a Sunday to watch football.
I have been tutoring for over five years. I specialize in test prep and assisting students in improving their writing skills. I also work with students in history and general homework help.I am a published writer with articles in national and local publications and Yahoo! Finance. I wrote about legal and financial issues and discovered that I really enjoy the law - so I moved to Williamsburg, Virginia for three years and studied at the College of William & Mary, the country's oldest law school. During the week, I am a practicing attorney who has taken and passed three bar exams - each on the first attempt.I believe that any student can achieve their goals and no one style fits everyone. I maintain flexibility and adjust my methodologies for each student that I work with. However, I generally like to keep my sessions casual, focusing on improving the student's confidence and scores, as I have found that some students become discouraged when they struggle. In my spare time I read a wide variety of books, enjoy listening to music, and playing with my three-year-old daughter. When I can find time, I like doing crossword puzzles as well.
I am a graduate of the Honors program at Indiana University in Bloomington,IN where I focused on music and philosophy. After graduation I spent time in Europe as an employee of the National Theater in Germany. I consider the multicultural experiences I had while living and working in Europe a wonderful supplement to my formal education and it fostered in me an appreciation of diversity.Since returning the to the US I have taught children and adults a variety of subjects and skills in a number of settings. I am thrilled to be partnering with Varsity Tutors to help young people as they work to improve their academic performance in language arts. The ability to express oneself clearly is an invaluable tool throughout life. As a tutor I am most passionate about helping students improve their scores on Critical Reading and Writing portions of standardized tests. As a teacher my greatest joy is seeing a student achieve more then they thought possible. I consider myself a life-long learner who places a high value on education. When I am not teaching or exploring a new subject area I enjoy jogging and exploring outdoors, as well as attending performances of music, dance and theater.
I graduated from Stony Brook University with a Bachelor's degree in Physics through the Honors College program. I've also taught AP Physics and general science at Upper Room Christian School for one year. In my experience, I've heard many students say they can't or they're too "stupid" to do something. I believe that no student is unintelligent or incapable. Everyone is more than able, through some effort and a little bit of help, to achieve any goal in life, academic or otherwise. My goal is to help people achieve and realize the potential that lies inside of them.In addition to Science and Math, I also have an interest in music (guitar) and English and am available to tutor in those subjects as well.
I graduated from CUNY Hunter College with my Masters in English Literature in 2019, marking the end to a long period of intense study and travel. Since then, I have gone on to become an instructor and tutor for first-year undergraduates and older adult students at my local community college, where I have helped to coach students on ways to improve their writing and research strategies for their schoolwork and other projects. While my field of study focuses primarily on English Literature, I am eager to learn more about History, Philosophy, and the many areas of science.I try to maintain a relaxed environment while working with students, treating my one-on-one sessions like friendly conversations, which I find helps to put students at their ease even in the face of approaching deadlines. That being said, my sessions can be as in-depth as needed. While I am happy to advise on grammar and spelling, I will switch the focus to important content concerns if I see fundamental issues that need to be addressed. My goal is to help students stay on task, and to ensure that their arguments in writing are supported by strong details and the appropriate use of evidence.Teaching undergraduates has given me a unique perspective as I now approach my first year teaching as a certified teacher for high school English. I have seen for myself the importance of college readiness, and I have made it a professional goal of mine to better prepare students for the rigors of academic writing later in life. When I am not reading for research or for fun, I'm a shameless nerd, and I love to talk about my latest hyperfixation in the worlds of movies, TV, anime, or video games.
After working as a high school English teacher in New York for ten years, I came to Austin to pursue a PhD in Curriculum and Instruction at UT.Working with students on an individual basis is a wonderful opportunity for me to craft a personalized approach to subject matter and techniques. I especially enjoy working with students on their writing, whether personal essays or application statements that they have time to edit and revise, or on-demand writing tasks that appear on tests like the SAT or the AP Exam.
My name is Rachel! I am a college English professor at Suffolk County Community College , and have been tutoring students of all ages in English, math, and history for ten years. I experience joy every time I can help a struggling student understand, or even enjoy a subject. I am very experienced in tailoring lessons to meet an individual's needs, so no matter what your issue is, we can figure out how to solve it together! I look forward to talking to you.
I am a Wake Forest University graduate with a degree in Psychology, and I am currently pursuing a career as a physical therapist.I have over 5 years of tutoring experience with students ranging from elementary to college level, tutoring math, reading, writing, and science. I have also had experience tutoring the SAT, as well as helping high school juniors and seniors with their college application process and essay writing.Throughout the years I've been a student, I've had many teachers and tutors, both good and bad. My personal philosophy is to respect my students and engage with them on their terms, and to foster a sense of purpose and positive attitude towards whatever I'm tutoring. I believe that a positive student-teacher relationship creates the best learning environment, and I try to achieve this with each of my students.I am a basketball junkie. I also enjoy football, lounging with my dog, and watching Netflix.
I am an experienced math tutor and have tutored all math levels from pre-algebra to multivariable calculus/differential equations. I served as the mathematics tutor for my undergraduate university's college of engineering where I worked with college students on achieving success in their courses. My teaching philosophy is that anyone can learn and achieve mastery in math, we just have to figure out what the best way to break down concepts is and simplify steps as much as possible. There are many, many ways to approach math problems, the trick is finding the one that makes to most sense to each individual. I hold a double bachelors degree in Applied Mathematics and Economics from Stony Brook University and am working on my PhD in Economics.
Hi my name is Sree and I'm currently studying Biology at Stony Brook! I'm excited to help with whatever you're having trouble with and hopefully we will power through together. If you have any questions feel free to ask any time!
Dear Parents:I understand your concerns about your child's education! I am a full-time homeschool mom of our three children in elementary school. Teaching our own children is both rewarding and challenging! I will work hard to motivate your child to develop an appreciation for learning, and to understand that a good education is a privilege. If you are looking for a kind, patient, and competent tutor for many subjects in K-12 (i.e., English, Reading, Math, Science, Social Studies), please let me know how I can help you.In addition to homeschooling experience, I have a MA and PhD in Psychology. I have taught in higher education for over 15 years. I like teaching all courses in Psychology, including Statistics and Research Methods. If you are looking for a knowledgeable, articulate, and engaging tutor, who can make even Statistics fun, I am delighted to help you!
I first started tutoring others while in high school. I casually tutored some of my friends and peers who needed help in mutual classes, such as AP Calculus, AP Stats, and AP Physics. I became more involved with formal tutoring as a member of National Honor Society. I was active in tutoring both peers in my own age group, as well as those younger than me in subjects like Calculus and Physics. After I went to college, I went back to informally tutoring some of my friends in classes that we were taking together or that I had already taken. Some of these classes included general chemistry and some organic chemistry, as well as calculus and statics and dynamics in biological systems. At my university, I am getting back into formal tutoring by becoming a teaching assistant for a biology lab/lecture that I took in the past and did well in. I have always enjoyed trying to help others understand subjects that are more difficult to grasp. I believe I have a good understanding of effective teaching methods. I believe that the best ways to learn material are through practicing problems, through making sure each component of a problem is understood, and through methods such as mnemonic devices.I am currently an undergrad at Stony Brook University. I am a Biomedical Engineering major on a cellular and molecular track. When I am not in school and have free time, I enjoy fishing, playing and watching hockey, and catching up and spending time with friends.

I am a graduate from SUNY Stony Brook with a Bachelor of Arts in History and a Master of Arts in Teaching. I have tutored and taught students of all ages, from kindergarten through 12th grade, and even some college students. I love to tutor many different subjects, but Social Studies, Math, Literature, and Writing/Language Arts are my favorites. Social Studies and Literature allow students to discuss their own ideas and opinions about the subject, while Math requires more problem solving to best learn the concepts. I believe that learning, not just knowing, comes from asking the question 'why?' Only by thoroughly understand 'why' can learning occur, and learning allows people to successfully engage with the world around them. Outside of teaching, I enjoy baseball, reading, movies, music, and playing a variety of games.
With a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in Biomedical Engineering, my education focused heavily in calculus, math at all levels and physics. Biomedical Engineering also helped developed my biological knowledge.I have experience as a TA during my undergrad and graduate years. I have been teaching in a plethora of subjects for more than 2 years. With experience in labs and research, a publish author with three scientific papers, I will be able to help however needs help in these areas.
Hello! My name is Tyrell R. I am a New York State Certified Math Teacher with an immense passion for not only educating people in math, but making the learning process an enjoyable experience! I graduated with a master's degree in teaching mathematics from one of the top universities in New York. Prior to that, I graduated cum laude with a bachelor's degree in mathematics and a minor in computer applications. My motivation for teaching stems from watching the significant impact that teachers have on students' lives and wanting to ensure that my contributions to the next generation exceed what was given to me and my generation. I have taught in environments where most students were given up on, but my mission has always been to speak life into these individuals. My genuine belief is that everyone is capable, especially with the proper guidance. My specialty is making students feel comfortable enough to allow me to help them maximize their potential. There is no level of understanding that I have not helped elevate, so I am confident I can help you achieve your goals in abundance!I have been teaching Algebra, pre-algebra, and a variety of math subjects for years now both inside and outside of the traditional school setting. I have experience teaching anything from 1 on 1, to small groups, to big classes. I have also taught Regents prep classes for those taking state tests in New York. Outside of math, I have a business where my co-founder and I make grade school and college visits to give presentations on financial literacy. Teaching people how to manage and invest their money is also an extreme passion of mine!I am open to having a free consultation meeting if you desire one. Remember, I can be contacted at any time of the day. I usually respond very quickly. I am easy to talk to, so please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions. I have been told I am very easy to work with! Hope to hear from you soon!
I am a PhD candidate in English literature dedicated to teaching writing, reading comprehension, and literary analysis.
I am a sophomore at Stony Brook University on the pre- med track studying towards a major in Psychology. I love Biology, chemistry, and Psychology and am currently teaching my own chemistry course at Stony Brook University under the guidance of Dr. Troy Wolfskill, the head of the chemistry department at the university. So far I love my teaching position as it not only brings me happiness in helping others succeed, but it helps me build a stronger understanding on how to be a better instructor. When I teach, I try not to lecture the student, but engage them by connecting what I teach with real-life scenarios. Especially in hard sciences like biology, this makes it much easier for students to understand the topic. Outside of academia, I am a professional swimmer of 15 years, I love to hike, bike, and scuba dive. I also work part time as a model and am a market specialist for Bai, a drink company based in the northeastern America.
I have many years of experience in competitive mathematics as I was the former co-captain of the NYC ARML math team. I have an unique approach with illustrating mathematics.
I am a recent graduate from Stony Brook University with a double Bachelors of Science in Biology and Anthropology. While attending Stony Brook University I specialized in ecology and biological anthropology and was an undergraduate researcher in a population genetics lab. My future goal is to obtain my PhD in human evolutionary biology (particularly population genetics). This coming fall, I will be starting a position as a laboratory assistant at the University of Michigan. My primary teaching experience has been through my undergraduate career, as I was a teacher’s assistant for an upper division biology course. Beyond my teaching assistant role, I was a resident assistant for 2 years. In this position, I guided and mentored many of my peers, be it academically or personally. My specific academic strengths are ecology, evolution, genetics, biological anthropology and archaeology. My interests in these topics were heightened when I had the opportunity to participate in a study abroad program in Kenya. I was able to extensively study and explore the ecological, archaeological and geological uniqueness of the Turkana region of Kenya. On my down time I love spending time outdoors exploring nature and the beautiful world we have. My general approach when tutoring students is to first, determine the student’s strengths and weaknesses and then utilize these strengths and weaknesses to determine the appropriate studying and learning plan. I am passionate and eager to start sharing my knowledge and experiences with my students!
I am a rising junior at Stony Brook University majoring in Chemical and Molecular Engineering. My passion for tutoring started off in high school as I explained certain topics to my friends once in a while. Not only did this make me realize that it made me understand those topics better, but more importantly, it made me feel good knowing that I was able to teach something to someone successfully. This passion evolved as I became a paid tutor for the SAT test in my senior year of high school, a teaching assistant for Calc IV in my third semester of college, and a residential tutor for Organic Chemistry in my fourth semester of college. Currently, my favorite subjects to tutor are Chemistry, the SAT, and Algebra/Calculus I. I can make complex concepts and questions simpler by implementing various tips and tricks that I have learned throughout my time of learning and teaching these subjects. My teaching philosophy revolves around my belief that everyone can learn a subject, they just have to be taught the right way.
I am a recent graduate of Stony Brook University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Math and Statistics. Currently, I am studying for the FM and P exams in Actuarial Sciences. Mathematics has always been my strongest and most favorite subject. I was on the Math team for several years and participated in various regional Math competitions. I also have years of experience tutoring in formal and informal settings in a myriad of math subjects ranging from Algebra to Calculus IV.It is my passion to show students the beauty in math and disprove the many misconceptions of it being difficult and nonsensical, which I often find stems from poor communication between students and their teachers. As a tutor, I aim to rectify that problem with one-on-one sessions designed to tackle concepts from a different angle, that perhaps the teacher had overlooked. There is no better feeling to me than that moment of clarity when a student finally understands something they had been previously struggling with.Aside from math and studying, I also play guitar and write music in my spare time. Although many people probably would never think so, math and music are actually codependent, and one could not exist without the other. They are both natural occurrences, and I consider their relationship a unique form of art. My individual love for them both has given me a greater appreciation and understanding of them separately.
My name is Melody and I am currently a graduate student at Teachers College, Columbia University studying Clinical Psychology. I have spent the last 6 years studying psychology and sociology. Some of my hobbies are running and doing yoga. I love to play piano, walk my dogs, and eat! I have been to most of western Europe, Mexico, and am planning on traveling some more before I start my doctoral degree.I have been tutoring students for the past 6 years in both formal and informal settings. I have tutored primarily in social sciences (psychology and sociology), English (writing, editing, and literature), and biology. My tutoring style varies depending on who I am working with - for example, if someone is a learner by doing then I won't have them watch me do a practice example, instead I will give them one and have them talk me through the steps they are going through. Each student is unique and should feel empowered! I like to foster that and have each student feel like they are actually in control of their learning.
I graduated from Stony Brook University in May 2014 with a B.S. Degree in Applied Mathematics and Statistics. I've had a great experience tutoring and assisting students in math. My teaching experience lies in math of any kind, ranging from Middle School Math to AB Calculus. My favorite subject to tutor would definitely be Statistics, since I have acted as a Teacher's Assistant for a statistics course and just feel very comfortable with that material. Additionally it's where my roots lie, and will always hold a little sentimental value to me. In such a position, I discovered my style of teaching, which is to teach by example; running through a problem, going over what we did in more detail, and then displaying alternate paths to reach the same answer. Outside of mathematics, I am very passionate about video games, playing a particular franchise or two on a high competitive level, and also stream tournaments on Long Island. Computer technology, creative thinking, and Soccer round up my main interest pool. I'm not the kind of character to get mad or grow impatient. I teach with a smile, and look forward to passing my knowledge onto other students!
I am an undergraduate student at Stonybrook University. I am a biology major on the pre-medicine track. I recently graduated from high school with an advanced diploma in Math and Science, achieving a 95+ score in all regents tests. I have tutored students at my temple and at my high school. Even though I have tutored many subjects, my expertise is in highschool math and science classes. I also teach chess, having a 1200+ rapid rating. I greatly believe in teaching with fun and passion and I try my best to make the learning process for my student as fun as possible. In my spare time, I usually practice magic tricks and I might incorporate tricks in my lessons.
As a slow learner and an ex high school struggling student, I would have never imagined I would now be pursuing a bachelor's degree in civil engineering at Stony Brook University. Therefore, I want to share my story with all types of students and motivate them to become wherever it is that they aspire to be. As a high school alumnus, current college student and tutor, I emphasize certain techniques to better understand a new foreign concept, I am a firm believer of visual representations, repeated audios, and concept application skills to convert student's weaknesses into their strengths. I love to be part of my students' school journey and tutor them in Spanish, algebra, geometry, calculus, physics, and chemistry. However, my favorite subjects to tutor are mechanics of solid, statics, and dynamics because I find them to be very interesting. When I am not at the library studying, you can always find me watching comedy movies and eating strawberry mochi ice cream.
I first became interested in tutoring while I was pursuing my Bachelor of Science degree in Integrated Biology at the University of Vermont. I had a wonderful supplemental instructor the first semester of my freshman year, and my experience working with her and having her help me excel made me want to do the same for others. That initial transition into college was difficult for me, but with my tutors help I ended up finishing that first semester strong with a 4.0 GPA. Like my first tutor, I strive to provide students with the skills necessary for them to excel. I want to cultivate open minds, help students look at the world critically, and most of all help them believe in their own capacity to be great. At the start of my sophomore year of college and until graduation, I myself started to work as a University tutor and supplemental instructor in Biology, Calculus and Chemistry. Because I worked for the university in the "Center for Academic Success", tutors were held to a very high standard for their understanding of the material. My boss would regularly come in unannounced when I was tutoring to evaluate and confirm my ability to teach at a high level. I worked 10-20 hours per week tutoring college students in addition to attending school full time and playing on the University club hockey team. My responsibilities as a tutor included developing lesson plans, interactive sessions, games, and teaching one-on-one or to a group in a classroom setting. Balancing a job, education, and sport helped me develop important time management and organizational skills. Likewise, being on a team teaches one responsibility, dependability and the importance of working together as a team.In addition to tutoring in a classroom session, I also have worked for several years as a surgical dental assistant and am now pursuing my Doctorate in Dental Surgery at Stony Brook University School of Dental Medicine. Working as a surgical dental assistant helped me think of problems in a new way. It took the educational knowledge I had and applied that to real life settings. The real world is not like a text book or exam. It is messy and things may not go as planned. Working with patients in a medical setting has shown me this the hard way and has taught me to think outside the box.I decided to go into Dentistry after college because I enjoy healthcare, helping others, and I wanted a profession where I can continue to teach everyday. Educating my patients about the fundamentals of proper oral health is crucial to long term prognosis and I believe the same is true for students when tutoring. Along with the foundations, proper communication, passion, trust, creating a welcoming atmosphere, and extensive scientific knowledge are all qualities that make up a good dentists and attributes that I strive for which can easily be translated to the tutoring setting. My reason for wanting to return to tutoring once again is simple. I miss it. I miss the joy of helping a student and seeing that "aha" moment occur once everything clicks. From my undergraduate degree in Biology and now soon to be Doctorate in Dental Surgery, I have a vast knowledge of the Biological and Health Sciences that I am looking to share with others that need the help, just like I did that one day not too long ago. I truly look forward to being able to help others learn and excel both within and outside the classroom.

My name is Selin Yalcin and I am thrilled to be your Tutor. I am an enthusiastic and motivated individual who loves to help teach students in grades K-12 while acting as a coach to advise and maximize the students' learning gains and build their self-confidence. I am a graduate of Stony Brook University with a bachelor's degree in both Biology and Human Evolutionary Biology and am currently a student in Boston University's Master's Anatomy Program with a teaching module. I graduated with honors distinction and also worked as a tutor in a learning center. I am driven but also compassionate toward students. As a result of my work in the learning center, I am used to effectively communicating with a student to identify any gaps in their skill or knowledge and how to resolve issues. I am able to teach a variety of STEM subjects such as Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Living Environment, Biology, Chemistry, and Anatomy. I am also experienced in teaching the math portion of both the SAT and ACT, one of my former students scored a 1520 on their SAT.
My name is Nim. I graduated cum laude and departmental honors with a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, and a minor in Writing & Rhetoric. In college, I realized that certain classes can be an obstacle for students as there are not enough of a friendly environment for them to express their concerns. For my tutoring approach, I first let students know that it is okay to make mistakes and that practice can help you improve progressively. I try to allow students express concerns they have regarding to the material presented from class and then we directly approach the lesson by having an understanding of what the student does or does not know. After the lesson, I would review the points that we learned and having a goal of students practicing material on their own. The method can be adjusted based on student's individual needs. I have a year experience in teaching organic chemistry and physical chemistry in college. I worked directly with any students who needed additional assistance, but also focus on one-on-one tutoring. These were the students who needed extra help, so I work with them during class to make sure they didn't fall behind and clarify questions they might have. I held review sessions in Organic Chemistry, where I choose questions to review and occasionally teach important points to understand in a topic. I want to benefit the students I work with as much as possible, therefore I welcome any feedback from the students can provide. I am easy to reach and will always provide fast responses. Feel free to contact me with any additional questions or to schedule a lesson.
Hi! My name is Mandy, and I am a Biochemistry and Psychology double major with a minor in Finance at Stony Brook University. I am passionate about helping students build confidence in their abilities and achieve their academic goals. As an Undergraduate Teaching Assistant for Introductory Biology Laboratory at Stony Brook University, I work closely with students to explain complex concepts, guide laboratory activities, teach data analysis using Excel, and help students improve their scientific writing skills. Through this experience, I have learned that every student learns differently, and I enjoy adapting my teaching style to meet each student's individual needs. I tutor biology, chemistry, psychology, ACT preparation, and study skills for middle school, high school, and college students. My approach focuses on breaking down challenging topics into manageable steps while encouraging students to think critically and develop effective problem-solving strategies. I strive to create a supportive and welcoming environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and learning from mistakes. As a student myself, I understand the challenges that come with balancing coursework, exams, and extracurricular responsibilities. Because of this, I emphasize not only subject mastery but also strong study habits, organization, and confidence-building techniques that students can apply throughout their academic journey. Whether you're preparing for an important exam, looking to improve your grades, or seeking a deeper understanding of a subject, I would love to help. I look forward to working with you and supporting your success!
Hard work pays off. Over the 5+ years tutoring, I have seen it happen with my students. I can help you perform your best on your math tests, whether it be the SAT or an exam in school.I graduated with a BA in philosophy, was on track to medical school, worked in a corporate setting, and am now a graduate student of theology. I have a very diverse background and a genuine interest in helping people, effectively and efficiently.
Ever since I was a little kid, I have always loved math and the physical sciences. I worked hard in high school, undergrad, and graduate school to expand my knowledge on the subject and become an expert in math. I know that math isn't everyone's favorite subject, so I'm here to share the tips and tricks that I've picked up in algebra, calculus, statistics, and trig with everyone.I'm always happy to lend a hand to those who need help. If you're having trouble in mathematics, let me know and and I'll help you to understand it!
I am a Mechanical Engineer. At the moment though, I have decided to change directions and pursue a career in medicine. As I go to school part time and prepare for my MCAT, I am tutoring physics, mathematics, biology, and chemistry, here at Varsity Tutors with my spare time.I graduated from New York Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and then obtained my Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Stony Brook University.I'm able to tutor physics, math, chemistry, and biology from grades 7-12 and the collegiate level. For those looking to get straight A's throughout the semester or ace the regents, let's start the year off on the right foot.My teaching methods are excellent, and unlike most tutors, I bring fun and excitement to the subject, because we all know how boring the physical and biological sciences can be at times. Using various analogies and examples, I find that I capture my students attention and bring the best out of them. Most importantly, I look forward to helping my students, allowing them to excel and achieve their goals. After being tutored by me, you will be believe me when I say, "The Sky Is The Limit."
I am a senior at Stony Brook University majoring in Applied Mathematics and Statistics along with a Pre-Med Track. I have tutored people in the range of 13-23 years old. I have tutored Calculus for my school's learning center. I love working with people, as I believe it is a learning for me as well. I try to approach things from different angles in order to see what works best for students.
