Today, we covered the first three sections of chapter 46, which discuss animal reproduction. Specifically, we covered asexual and sexual reproduction, the various manners in which each can occur, and the difference between them. We also went over external vs. internal fertilization, methods to ensure higher zygote and offspring survival rates in animals with internal fertilization, and the basics of reproductive systems in the animal kingdom. Finally, we discussed the human male and female reproductive systems, including the organs found in each, as well as the processes of spermatogenesis and oogenesis. The student seemed to have a good understanding of the material. I will put together a set of practice problems on all of the topics we have covered so far and send them to him.

The student and I finished up the last of her material for her exam tomorrow. We spent most of the time hammering out the little details of the citric acid cycle and electron transport chain. We then spent time doing some practice questions to help her get prepared for her test on Monday. I am confident that she is going to do great.
