The city of Bountiful was the second settlement in Utah after Salt Lake City, and is the state's 15th largest city. The student didn't have any homework in math or science for us to review this evening. Instead, I looked up 6th grade math review worksheets online, and we reviewed concepts that have been presented this year. We worked on percents, ratios, and multiplication of decimals. She had trouble remembering the process of multiplying numbers with decimals by hand (without using her calculator), and had difficulty figuring out where to place the decimal. After working through several problems, she began to pick up the process and get through the problems more quickly. She still has a lot of difficulty remembering her multiplication tables. She's admitted that she doesn't know any of the multiples of three without using her fingers. It might be a good idea for her to spend some time reviewing multiplication, using tables or flashcards. I told her that it would be good for her to bring her math book home for our next lesson, even if she doesn't have any homework assigned. This will allow us to look at some of the other the concepts she's found difficult over the past semester.

We specifically went over the concept of limits and its uses in the real world and mathematics in general. He was able to understand the concepts really well, but needs more help on showing the flow of his steps clearly. I left him some more reminders on the importance of writing clearly. Overall, the session was excellent.

The student and I reviewed the procedures for solving equations involving a single trigonometric function, trig equations that are quadratic in form, and trig equations using fundamental identities. We solved teacher-provided questions during the first part of the session with me guiding her through the process. During the second half of the session, she solved various examples independently. She understands these concepts and will master them with additional practice.
