The student worked on some orbital theory and oxidation-reduction concepts. He should review the material because it's important to master as we move on to different topics.

Physiology Tutoring review by Jonathan in Sandy, UT

Physiology Tutoring review by John in Sandy, UT
We went over the student's lab results and determined if various solutions reacted based on color changes or formation of a precipitate. The results were compared with a solubility chart (and a bit of internet research) to confirm which reactant formed the precipitate or if the products were both aqueous. We also reviewed some algebra sigma notation and series problems that he could recall from his test earlier today. He did well by studying the problem sets he got stuck on, and had them memorized by the time he reviewed them with me. That was a very good technique for post-evaluating a difficult test problem. I have to commend him for that! He shows tenacity in wanting to solve the problem whether or not it gets him the score or the grade. He will go far with that attitude.

Physiology Tutoring review by Jennifer in Sandy, UT
Specifically we covered calculating specific heat, using specific heat to find a change in temperature, using heat of formations to calculate heat of a reaction, and phase diagrams. The student needed help with the concepts we covered, and she asked me to show her how to solve those specific problems. Her attitude was encouraging. She said that she was understanding it better after I helped her. I said that for tests, high school chemistry teachers like to be shown every step for full credit, and that will possibly include extra steps.

Physiology Tutoring review by Nick in Sandy, UT
Today, we worked on a little stoichiometry and defining the 5 different types of reactions. The student did a good job comprehending the new material and balancing equations. He should be in good shape going into learning the 5 reaction types in class.
