As a professional with master's degrees in English Literature and Education, I have dedicated my nearly 20-year teaching career to ensuring students achieve their goals and are proud of the results. I have taught students from middle school through graduate school various subjects from reading remediation and algebra to humanities and writing. I am passionate about providing a collaborative, constructive experience by encouraging observation, questioning, and action. I have also spent time developing assessments and help students approach standardized tests with a perspective based on knowledge and the skill of testing.

I graduated from the University of Colorado, Boulder with a Business degree in Accounting. I went on to pass the CPA exam and start practicing as an Accountant. Several years later I chose to stay home and raise my children, I went back to work 5 1/2 years ago at the same school my kids graduated from high school. I work with students in grades 5 -12. I'm passionate about helping students find how they learn best and excel in their academics. I love Math and English, but I can help in Science and History too. I do whatever it takes to help the student and have a little fun along the way!
I've been teaching and coaching math and robotics for more than 10 years, in conjunction with over 20 years of programming and software QA. I love helping people find new ways of looking at problems to reveal solutions. My aptitude for math, programming and robotics stems from my true passion for music, especially music theory. I find that I'm not alone - that many of my technical colleagues share my musical leanings. Let me help you look at those tricky problems differently!
I previously worked as a credit recovery online teacher in Denver, CO, and San Diego, CA. I recently moved to Portland with my husband and am hoping to return to teaching once the pandemic is over next year. In the meantime, I want to continue working with students in my community, doing what I love best: teaching!
Hello! My name is Kirsten and I am so excited to connect with you and your family. I am primarily an early elementary teacher specializing in pre-K to 3rd grade. I teach all subject areas but get the most excited to teach the science of reading and skills of writing! I am currently getting my Master's in Early Childhood Education from the University of Colorado at Denver and have experience in 1:1 tutoring as well as small group settings. I have also taught in mixed grade classrooms, with small class sizes focused on individualized instruction. I hold prior experience in virtual tutoring as well as in person. When I am not teaching I am often at home snuggling my cat Pickles while reading, puzzling, or trying out a new craft or passion project. You can also catch me out in nature hiking or camping with my family; I have a huge passion for the environment and the policy surrounding it and even hold an undergraduate degree in Environmental Policy!I am a strong supporter of family involvement and collaboration. And with that comes flexibility! Life is hard and tutoring should be here to make it easier - I try to be as accessible and flexible as possible when communicating and planning with families. If we seem like a good match I look forward to connecting and learning with you soon :)
Hi! My name is Delia and I'm currently working as a elementary Math Fellow for Denver Public Schools. I graduated with a BFA in Photography/ minor in Communication from CU Denver in May of 2016. Throughout college I tutored high school students through the TRiO High School Upward Bound program. My favorite part about working with students of all ages is watching the lightbulb go off when they understand a concept or process. I also enjoy getting to know students and working to find a way to help them learn best. In my free time, I like to create art, go for hikes and explore Denver.
The exchange of information and education is a passion for me! Creating a comfortable and fun atmosphere will allow learning to be enjoyable and memorable for all parties involved!
Growing up as the oldest of five kids, I've spent a large part of my life being a tutor for my siblings. This helped me develop my teaching skills at a young age, and served me well when I became a recitation instructor at University of Colorado Denver, teaching upper-division genetics. My year-long tenure there only deepened my love of teaching and helped me strengthen my abilities to educate many different styles of learners. I also have the experience with graduate standardized testing, as I scored in the 95th percentile or above on the SAT, ACT, and MCAT.Since graduating in May with two degrees in biology and psychology, I have spent my time going through the medical school application process. During the upcoming year, I hope to help tutor those still in school not only to keep on my toes academically, but to help those who may be struggling with various subjects throughout their academic careers. There is no better feeling than watching someone have a eureka moment of understanding, and I look forward to meeting and working with new students. As a Colorado native, I love spending my free time hiking and climbing my way through the Rockies. I also enjoy playing volleyball (being 6'8" has its advantages) and teaching myself to play the guitar.
I've worked in Special Education for over 7 years. I tutored college level courses and taught independent living skills to college students with special needs (mostly autistic spectrum disorders) for 6 years before becoming a middle and high school teacher for students with unique emotional needs for two years. These experiences have allowed me to develop the skill to accurately assess a student's comprehension of a subject and then provide instruction using strategies for multiple intelligences in a approachable manner.
I am a graduate of University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana where I received my Bachelor degree in Math and Computer Science. I also earned my master degree from the University of Colorado-Denver in secondary mathematics teaching. I worked at big companies as a computer programmer and software companies in many roles. Then I switched careers and taught math and computer science at the high school level for many more years. In my experience helping students in those logical parts of the brain is natural and everybody can think logically. And when we are successful, it makes you feel proud and good inside. And I love that feeling. My teaching and tutoring is try try try. The goal is getting good results because it is not how fast or how perfect our solutions are, it is the fun along the way and fun of learning.
I am currently a third year dental student at the CU Dental School and I would one day love to become a Pediatric dentist! I absolutely love working with kids and I think that becoming a teacher/tutor can be a valuable tool to one day use in my practice. Although I have a strong background in math and science, I also love to read and even dabble in some Spanish. I can work with all age groups and I think every student can teach me something as well! Learning how to relate to kids and giving them insight on how to solve problems can be very rewarding!
I am a graduate of the University of Virginia and the University of Colorado. I received my Bachelor of Science in Systems Engineering and my Masters Degree in Computer Science. I have been teaching for over 30 years. I started teaching when I was living overseas with my husband and teaching was one of the few jobs available. I found out that I love teaching, so I continued teaching when we returned to the United States first at the community college level but then at the middle and high school level as I followed my children's progress through school. As a military family we moved 16 times, so I have traveled extensively. Although I have taught a variety of subjects, my passion is computer science. I love working with students, and I feel a great sense of accomplishment when they master new material. I believe living is learning, and I care deeply that my students are successful. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, walking, and spoiling our cat.
