Physiology Tutoring review by Devon in Taylorsville, UT
The student and I worked on organic chemistry and nuclear chemistry yesterday. She had an overall positive attitude and she seemed interested in the material. She was very good at identifying functional groups and naming compounds. She was a little shaky on the different types of decay for nuclear chemistry, but she willingly verbalized her knowledge gaps and we were easily able to discuss the concepts until she understood them. She impressed me this session by asking questions that were beyond the scope of the course in attempts to fully understand the material. I advised her to study the different functional groups in order to become more familiar with identifying and naming them. It was great to see her so confident, knowledgeable, and curious through the session. Hopefully her grade on today's test will reflect her improvement. Good session overall.

The student is preparing for the SAT Chemistry test which he will take on Saturday. We completed an 81 item practice test, which included classification questions, relationship questions and multiple choice questions. Topics covered included stoichiometry, redox, nuclear chemistry, organic functional groups, % mass, acid/base chemistry and lab techniques. The student remains a very strong student and has a great attitude. I gave him a link to another practice test in case he wanted more review material prior to Saturday.

The student and I went through his study guide for the final, which now includes all of the new material. He flew though the topics really easily, and I could tell he was incorporating more specific definitions to familiar terms. He is way more solid on the water and nutrient cycles, and is comfortable with the new material.
