How can Calculus tutoring help you succeed?

Did you excel in your pre-calculus class, only to now find yourself confused on certain areas of your calculus course? Concepts such as inverse functions and differentiation may be challenging and take some time to get the hang of, but a private tutor can help. Varsity Tutors can assist you in finding professional calculus tutoring in New Jersey. Private tutoring allows you to meet with a tutor on your schedule at a time and place that works for you best - even online.

New Jersey calculus tutoring provides advantages that you would not see with classroom learning alone. Your tutor can work with you one-on-one on just the topics that you are uncertain of. Should you have a complete understanding of a concept, such as the general exponential rule, but be confused by the fundamental theorem of calculus, then you may then skip the areas you understand and focus all your tutoring time on the topics that confuse you. You can also work through these topics at a rate that allows you to absorb the information. You may find that you are confused by something like antiderivatives simply because your instructor covered the topic too quickly in class for you to really grasp. Should this be the case, you and your tutor can go over concepts slowly and meticulously until you feel comfortable with them. Alternatively, you may not be struggling with any concept in the class at all, but find that the instructor is moving too slowly for your liking. If this is the case, you and your tutor may begin covering topics that are coming up in your calculus course.

Calculus Tutoring review by Ryan in New Jersey
The student and I worked through his final two homework assignments before his test this Friday. The material covered using the properties of logarithms and exponents to solve equations. All but 10 problems were either performed by the student or verbally articulated. I think, if he continues to review what we have done, he has an excellent shot at getting a good score. I did not give him any extra work because he will be busy studying for the test. Normally, I would be concerned with him writing stuff down, but, lately, he has been getting into a habit of writing his work down on paper.

Calculus Tutoring review by Colin in New Jersey
In the new semester, the student transferred into a different, less advanced, Calculus class. He has been given the option to improve last semester's grade if he does well on the tests for this class. He has a test on Wednesday and wanted me to help him prepare for it. The test will cover differential equations, which is something we spent time on last semester. We worked through a review assignment, and the student seemed to have a firm grasp on the material. He had a little bit of trouble setting up one of the equations, but as we talked through it, he realized his error. The rest of the assignment went smoothly, and the student feels that he will do well on his test.

Calculus Tutoring review by Meredith in New Jersey
The student and I reviewed topics on his upcoming examination. We worked on finding derivatives and integrals of logarithmic and exponential functions. We reviewed a concept and then applied it to the homework. I would show him how to solve a homework problem and then he would complete several similar problems on his own. He and I covered everything that would be on his test and I feel he is prepared to be successful.

Calculus Tutoring review by Meiting in New Jersey
The student has a test this coming Friday, so we just reviewed chapter 8 in her book. She finished her homework before our session today, so I have prepared multiple worksheets for her to review. First we went over the volume of rectangular prism, triangular prism, and cylinder. Then after that went over the volume of cones. Afterwards, we played with the formulas of volume and areas to find solutions to X. She is very smart and understands the concept quickly.

Calculus Tutoring review by Allison in New Jersey
We started looking at functions which have common points, and how to find those common points graphically and algebraically. Using the calculator to graph various functions, she had some trouble reading the points just with her eyes, so I encouraged her to look at the table and use trace functions to be 100% sure of the intersection points. Then we checked those functions and found the common points of some other functions by setting the equations equal to each other. After that I taught her how to graph inequalities and how to identify inequality graphs.

During this session, the student and I reviewed for his upcoming exam. We went over physics and calculus, and how calculus applies to physics. We reviewed work, force, distance, and utilizing these in integrals. We also reviewed springs, partial fractions, and other physics/calculus related issues.
