A community garden was set up for the dual purpose of town beautification and educating elementary school children on composting, recycling, and gardening. I tutored the student tonight in Geometry, specifically in the subsection regarding the Triangle Inequality Theorem. He didn't have a good jumping off point, but through giving him exercises, diagrams, verbal explanations and intermittent quizzes, I am hopeful that he was able to absorb the lesson. We were able to finish his homework in about half an hour, and were able to go back and review some topics he was unsure about, including angle/side magnitude correlation.

We finished up our review of L'Hopital's rule, going over some tricks to use when you have a zero times infinity of artificially putting one of them on the bottom, and how to deal with infinity raised to the zero power or vice versa, using the natural log and raising e to the argument and evaluating it that way. Then we went over separable differential equations and she seemed to have no problem with them. We finished with linear differential equations and I gave her a crash course in solving them. We will spend some time on them tomorrow putting the formulas to work and getting practice solving some more complicated ones, as the one we used as an example was exceedingly simple.

The students and I worked on solving matrices. We put an emphasis on solving determinants and multiplication using the hand method. It was a very productive session, and I plan on reinforcing this material further at the next session.
