We used the student's two previous exams and her final study guide as a foundation for our session. We covered cell organelles, biomolecular groups, the central dogma of molecular biology, etc. In addition, we spent the final 40 minutes covering genetic topics of inheritance directly from two pedigree problem sets in her study guide.

We reviewed rational expressions and graphs of a wide range of elementary functions that will aid the student in developing her intuition about the validity of any answers she arrives at, especially since her class is coming to rely more on graphing answers and functions electronically. We covered asymptotes, intercepts, range, domain, and the like.

Tutoring review by David in Belmar, NJ
I met the student for the first time. Tonight we reviewed what makes something a function, the definition of even functions, and the definition of odd functions. We went over determining function values by looking at a graph, and we reviewed finding/determining limits of a function as x approaches specific values. We reviewed, in basic terms, what it means for a graph to be continuous, and we briefly discussed the types of discontinuity (jumps, infinite, and holes). The student and I both believe she is ready for her quiz tomorrow.

Tutoring review by Jeffrey in Belmar, NJ
We started off with some function basics--plotting, domain, and range. We went into more detail about possible domain restrictions. We then looked at chemistry. Right now, her class is learning quantum and atomic structure. We needed to go back and clarify some of the definitions; it made the material much easier for her. We finished off with electron configurations and atomic emission/absorption spectroscopy.
