Graduate Test Prep Tutoring review by Rachel in Joliet, IL
We reviewed overall reading comprehension strategy, including a review of question types and associated approaches for each question type. The student has shown a lot of growth on all aspects of the verbal section, including reading comprehension. She's able to consistently pull out relevant information from passages and answer questions correctly and efficiently. I encouraged her to go slower with reading since she consistently has time left at the end of sections and also move slower through the questions, although, she's shown a lot of progress and should continue doing what she's doing as more practice will surely help! Next time, we'll pick up on math review and switch off from there.

Graduate Test Prep Tutoring review by William in Joliet, IL
We started by doing several sections of reading comprehension. During these, my advising diminished as the student became more comfortable with the material. We also worked on text completion, where the importance of choosing two equivalent words (in sections where this applied) was emphasized. We then practiced generating ideas for the essays. We finished with a sampling of algebra problems.

Graduate Test Prep Tutoring review by Jesse in Joliet, IL
We started by doing some practice geometry problems, which the student mostly understood but needed some guidance with. Then, we did vocab and reading, both of which he excelled at. I think studying vocab and using test-taking strategies is helping him a lot. Then, we went over some data analysis (Venn diagram) and probability problems.

Graduate Test Prep Tutoring review by Ricardo in Joliet, IL
We started by reviewing an essay the student had written. His essays are greatly improved since we began and now have everything that I've asked him to put in them, so I didn't have much to say beyond praise. We reviewed some of the more difficult verbal reasoning questions, which were difficult for him. With these questions, he needs to maintain his focus on strategy and not be flustered by difficult questions or unknown vocabulary words. We will continue to go over this area in the next session.

Graduate Test Prep Tutoring review by Ryan in Joliet, IL
We started by working through a practice verbal reasoning section. I gave her some instruction on the basic strategy for this section and the specific strategy for every question type. She is doing well overall, but like all students, could benefit from learning more vocabulary ahead of test day. We then moved on to go through a number of quantitative reasoning questions. I walked her through these questions in more detail, focusing on the math concepts needed to answer each question. I tried to help her diagnosis problems at the beginning to figure out how to get started in arriving at the solution. She is still struggling with the harder problems, but is starting to learn how to use alternative strategies like number picking and backwards solving.

Graduate Test Prep Tutoring review by Irina in Joliet, IL
We started off by completing several Reading Comprehension passages, with a particular focus on the longer passages, with several in evidence based questions. Some question types we covered were: "what is the primary purpose?"; "what is the meaning of the underlined word in context?"; and "with which of the following statements is the author most likely to agree?" Next, we covered a few math topics, including special right triangles, circles, number sequences, and probability/statistics.
