I am a graduate of Northwestern University where I received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Religious Studies. I am currently pursuing a masters degree in social work at the University of Chicago's School of Social Service Administration. I am passionate about tutoring because I want everyone to be able to perform academically at their highest possible level. I also think it is important that learning is not just for one assignment or one test, but rather that it sticks with you to build a solid foundation of knowledge and confidence that you can carry forward. My favorite subjects to tutor include English, SAT test preparation, math, and psychology. My approach to tutoring is to meet the student where they're at and go from there. I find that this way we can build a productive tutoring relationship where I can help individualize learning to each person's particular learning style. Outside of academic interests, I enjoy cooking, being with friends and family, traveling the world, and looking as ridiculous as possible doing Zumba.

I am very dedicated to helping students excel in school and in helping them develop study methods and styles that work best for them and that will serve them throughout school. I previously tutored with Boys Hope Girls Hope in Evanston, IL. I tutored middle and high school students in Spanish and English, and I was able to help them develop study strategies such as using flashcards or translating a sentence they had spoken aloud that day in their heads for extra language practice. I am very excited to be able to tutor again and to work with students. There is nothing more rewarding than seeing a previously struggling student excel and to have helped them improve along the way. Hobbies: reading, music, running, art, books, dancing, writing

I am an incoming freshman at Northwestern University, and I will be studying economics and international studies. I have lots of experience in mentoring students individually and teaching in the classroom through being a student intern for a sophomore honors English class. I love working with students who are preparing for tests or college admissions because it gives me an opportunity to impart my knowledge of the college application process to others and empathize with them on all their concerns. I believe that education and critical thinking are key to expanding your horizons and achieving your goals in life. Hobbies: reading, writing, books, music, art

Whether your student attends an elementary, middle, or high school in Elmhurst, we can match them with a tutor who understands the local curriculum and academic expectations they're working with.
With an average student-teacher ratio of 13.1:1 in Elmhurst schools, many students benefit from personalized 1-on-1 instruction to fill gaps and accelerate learning. Tutoring provides the individualized attention that allows your student to ask questions freely, work at their own pace, and get targeted help on the specific concepts they're struggling with—something that's harder to achieve in a classroom setting.
Tutors who work with Elmhurst students are familiar with Illinois State Standards and the specific academic benchmarks your student needs to meet. Whether it's mastering grade-level math concepts, building reading comprehension skills, or preparing for state assessments, personalized tutoring helps bridge any gaps and ensures your student is on track with state expectations.
In the first session, the tutor will get to know your student's learning style, current academic level, and specific challenges. They'll discuss what your student is working on in their Elmhurst classroom and identify the best areas to focus on. This foundation helps the tutor create a personalized plan tailored to your student's goals and needs.
Varsity Tutors connects Elmhurst students with tutors across all major subjects—including math, English, science, social studies, foreign languages, and test prep for standardized assessments. Whether your student needs foundational support, enrichment, or help preparing for AP or honors courses, we have tutors with expertise in the subjects Elmhurst students are studying.
We take time to understand your student's academic needs, learning style, and goals before making a match. Tutors in our network who work with Elmhurst students have relevant subject expertise and experience helping students at your student's grade level succeed. If a match isn't working, we can connect you with a different tutor at no extra cost.
Pricing varies based on the subject, tutor expertise, and frequency of sessions you choose. We work with families to find flexible scheduling and package options that fit different budgets. Many Elmhurst families start with weekly sessions and adjust as needed—there's no long-term contract required, so you can scale up or down based on your student's needs.
Many students show noticeable improvement within 4-6 weeks of consistent tutoring, though timelines vary depending on the subject, your student's starting level, and how frequently they're meeting with their tutor. The key is consistency—regular sessions combined with practice between meetings tend to produce the fastest results. Your tutor will track progress and adjust their approach to keep your student moving forward.
