Hailing from Central New Jersey, I have had years of tutoring experience mostly focusing on the liberal arts for all ages. I started teaching because I enjoyed helping students at Baruch College prep for graduate school entrance exams (GMAT, LSAT, GRE). Later on, I aided community college students to break through their difficulties in basic math, algebra, quantitative literacy and statistics/probability (remedial math courses). Many of these students were the first in their families to attend college. I've been teaching math for 25+ years, both in a classroom setting and, more recently, on-line. I prefer to use a whiteboard and other visuals to present the problems and explain the methodology and steps that lead to the solution. If you are my student I would encourage you to first think through the problem and work it through on your own whenever possible, as it helps to foster self-confidence. Then I can step in and assist where I can to guide you to the correct solution. I like to put myself in my student's place in order to understand what hurdle(s) they need to overcome to solve the math question. I can explain approaches to the solution in several ways until it makes sense to you. I am available pretty much during the week or on weekends from late morning until early evenings and can make exceptions when necessary. I believe that every student can become a better writer. There is a myth that you have to be born a Shakespeare to be a good writer, but that isn't true. You just need a solid foundation in the basics -- grammar and punctuation -- and you need to commit yourself to always increase your vocabulary so you will have a wide range of words to work with. After those skills are under your belt, it's merely a matter of practice. All human beings want to express themselves; writing is one chief way that we humans do that. The more you write -- and edit and proofread your writing -- the better a writer you will be. You will be able to develop a strong writing voice and become a great communicator in print.

I currently tutor in math (up to AP Calculus BC/Calculus II), chemistry, physics, biology and offer test prep for the SAT and several SAT Subject tests. However my favorite subjects to tutor involve chemistry, due to the various real world examples that make the subject more comprehensive and ultimately enjoyable for students. My hobbies and interests include dancing, solving crossword puzzles, binging Netflix TV shows and hiking.
