Teaching is my favorite part time activity. I am an experienced teacher with relevant skill in educating, guiding, mentoring students in undergraduate, graduate and financial certification courses. I have been mentoring High School and college level students for many years now. I have a special knack towards this activity because of its inherent challenge. One cannot outshine as a good tutor unless one is an effective communicator and presents every thought in a simple understandable manner. This is precisely the niche that gives me an edge over others. I have always handled complex and challenging tasks systematically and have adapted myself to their needs achieving outstanding performance at the end. I believe learning is fun and make the whole process as interactive and straightforward as possible so that at the end of the day, the students can grasp the concepts without going through a rigorous stress. I am always available for any course related questions outside the class. Aside from having experience in proactively leading many classes, online sessions, training and presentations, I possess an excellent knowledge, which is reflected in my overall GMAT (740 out of 800) and TOEFL IBT (114 out of 120) score. I have attended the prestigious KTDP program of the prestigious KAPLAN institution. I have been involved in tutoring assignments with Manhattan Elite Prep for the past 7+ years. With more than 10 years of work experience in the financial services industry, I can bring to students the correlation between theoretical knowledge and the practical know-how.
I have worked as a developer, tester, analyst, project manager and process improvement specialist for three large insurance and financial companies for 30+ years. I have trained employees on the use of many applications, including Microsoft Windows, Excel and Word. I have a Bachelor of Science in Correctional Counseling, and a Master of Science in Business Computer Information Systems. In my last position, I was a member of the organization's Software Engineering Process Group (SEPG), whose job was to train and assess project teams in practices to improve their information technology projects. I was also the product owner for a Document Configuration Management system using SharePoint, where I defined requirements, worked with the developers on implementing the requirements, tested the system, worked on the production implementation, and trained the project managers on its features. Finally, I am the go-to person for my friends and family when they have questions related to technology, and I would like to be that person for you! I'm enthusiastic about technology and helping others understand how they can make better use of the tools they use every day, but I will do it in an easy way to make things less complex for you. I have been tutoring on another platform for two and a half years, and have received excellent reviews from my students.
I attended CUNY (City University of New York). I earned my A.A.S from NYCT College. While working as an intern I went on to earn by Bachelor's degree in Operations Management at Baruch College.Currently, I work as a substitute teacher at NYC Charter Schools. It is a pleasure to have a chance on a daily basis to go to different schools and teach different subjects. Some days I work with a classroom that may have up to 30 students. It could be Primary, Middle, or High school students. Other times I work with one student for the school day. We work on all classroom subjects including math, reading, writing, social studies and others. My teaching style is to encourage participation. I want my students to ask questions. Different students learn at different rate however if the student is participating by asking questions, motivation level is elevated hence a higher chance to learn the given subject. When I am not working, I love to read but I also like watching British comedies and the Doctor Who series.

I enjoy sharing my passion for learning with students and I hope to inspire students to feel confident and capable in their abilities. I am qualified to tutor a wide variety of subjects but I most enjoy tutoring Statistics and Writing. I take the time to get to know every one of my students so I can develop a plan to ensure that they achieve their goals. I am proud to be a part of the Varsity Tutors team. In this role I am able to combine two passions of mine: academic success and helping others. I have previously tutored high school and college students in a wide variety of subject areas from English literature to business. I hope to bring my guidance and expertise to students who need it.I grew up in Franklin Square, NY and attended H. Frank Carey High School. During HS I pursued an interest in business through participation in the Future Business Leaders of America. I was also actively involved in the National Honor Society; part of my role in this club was to tutor students for general coursework and SAT preparation. I achieved a "5" on several AP exams including World History, US History, and English, and I graduated in the top 4% of my class (2005).In 2009 I graduated cum laude from the Macaulay Honors College at Queens College with high honors in English. In obtaining my bachelors degree, I also continued my interest in business through the Business and Liberal Arts program. Throughout my time at Queens College, I began to work in part-time managerial roles and privately tutor students in various subject areas.Over the past few years, I continued my professional development, which now includes 4+ years of full-time management experience. I leveraged my academic and professional success into acceptance into the prestigious Zicklin School of Business at Baruch College where I am currently pursuing my MBA.With my academic success comes a responsibility to assist students in their scholastic growth. I was born in Japan and studied Japanese literature at Fukuoka Women's University and hold a Bachelor's degree and received a Teacher's Certificate in High School Japanese from the Japanese government. I learned how to teach Japanese to foreigners at the Continuing Education Programs of NYU. I also hold an MBA from Baruch College, City University of New York and worked as a banker in the US, helping Japanese companies do business in the US as well as assisting US companies to develop their business in Japan. I also worked as a Japanese-English translator, introducing Japanese books to American readers. I'm interested in language and also in arts and culture. For example, I like visiting museums, going to see operas, and practicing Japanese Tea Ceremony. It makes me feel very rewarded when I can help others achieve their goals. I would like to conduct each session to suit the student's particular need and motivation whether it is general interest in Japanese culture and language, or preparation for an upcoming trip to Japan, or doing well in school work.

There are few things as rewarding as learning; helping students feel the same way is one of my main focuses. As a teacher, it is my responsibility to know who my learners are, what kinds of knowledge and experience they bring to the table, and what they want to achieve so that I can tailor a curriculum that fits their needs and yet leaves enough room to accommodate topics that emerge.I especially love teaching when the learning in my classroom/with a student is palpable. I believe that teachers who demonstrate curiosity and passion about a subject area motivate students. My philosophy of teaching is informed by the material I teach, relevant scholarship, and the lessons I have learned from personal teaching successes and failures.I have many years experience tutoring for SAT and ACT, as well as all high school level math and English.

Whether you need to pass an exam in a few days or help with an assignment that is due tomorrow, I can be of assistance.
