About Me

I am a graduate student pursuing a Masters in Public Health at Columbia University's Mailman School. I completed a B.A. at Yale University in the History of Science & Medicine in May of 2011, and I am eager to work with Varsity Tutors in order to help other students achieve their academic goals. I have been tutoring at a variety of levels since I was in elementary school, and have discovered that I truly love the opportunity to help others gain a better understanding of whatever subject matter is at hand. Reading and writing are my specialty; words are something I have always found to have great power, and assisting others in expressing their thoughts in nuanced, articulate ways has become a great passion of mine. I try to find a balance between structure and creative thinking when it comes to my tutoring style, and I firmly believe that everyone is capable of achieving great things given the right environment and skill set. Often, people discover my educational history and assume that I am an academic robot: all work and no fun. I can assure you, however, that this is far from true! I am a down-to-earth, outgoing, and trustworthy person, and though I have a concrete sense of professional conduct and responsibility, I have always found that building a rapport and a friendly relationship with clients leads to infinitely more success than a purely businesslike exchange. It is my goal to provide guidance within a comfortable environment, which facilitates a much more personalized, pleasant tutoring experience. In my free time, I enjoy singing, acting, being an amateur photographer, eating amazing food, going to museums, reading as many articles on the New York Times website as possible, and spending time with my friends.
