I graduated from The College of Staten Island with a Bachelors Degree in History. I also completed courses concerning secondary education (grades 7-12), sociology, English literature, and many various history classes. I have classroom and tutoring experience with students of all ages from K-12. I was a teacher's assistant for grades 6-12, and have also tutored for an after school program on Staten Island for students of all ages. I am also experienced in college essay writing, and can provide assistance with college-level history and writing classes. I would also be delighted to provide services for the NYS history regents, and essay writing assistance. I believe that every student is unique, and needs to be approached with a teaching style which fits their needs. Some students need more time on certain subjects than others. The student will receive one-on-one tutoring, and we will move forward at a pace that best suits the needs of the students. I have worked with many "difficult" students, and they were extremely cooperative with me and we had many pleasant experiences together in the classroom. I believe every student deserves a chance to show how great they can really be. I never lose faith in my students, and I closely monitor and guide them, until they become all they can possibly be.

I attended the College of Staten Island for my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and for my Master's Degree in Secondary Education. I also completed a minor in mathematics. I am in my eleventh year of teaching at a high school in Staten Island, NY. I teach Algebra, Geometry, Finance, and College Algebra. I enjoy working with students who struggle with the basics of math- I like to show struggling students ways to understand various methods of solving problems. I work well with students that have a negative feeling towards mathematics. I try to make learning math fun and enjoyable. I have tutored on and off over the past six years- working with students from grades three through twelve. During my free time I prefer to spend time outdoors- activities include hiking with my dogs, golfing, skiing, riding motorcycles, swimming, gardening, playing tennis, and gardening. I also enjoying knitting and reading books.
Science is about understanding the connections between concepts and applying them to real world scenarios. As a dedicated tutor in biological sciences, I strive to bridge the gap between complex theories and practical understanding. With extensive experience tutoring students from high school to professional school, I have developed a teaching approach that is tailored to each student's learning style. Whether you're struggling with cellular pathways, genetics, microbiology, or pharmacology, I focus on simplifying difficult topics and reinforcing key principles to boost your confidence and comprehension. My goal is to help you not only excel in exams but also develop a deep appreciation for biology as a field. I provide structured lessons, personalized study strategies, and effective test-taking techniques to ensure that you achieve your academic goals.
I have over 23 years of ACT/SAT/PSAT tutoring experience, initially in a class setting with Kaplan, then, independently, as a personal tutor. I don't just give students problems and show them how to solve; rather, I teach them the basic concepts the problems are based on and ensure they have the skill sets to complete the problems independently. I have tutored ALL sections on both the SAT and ACT; I am a generalist: capable tutoring Critical Reading, Writing, Math or Science. I am a certified Teacher of the Handicapped in NJ and also hold a CE for general education.
Hi everyone! My name is Alexandria! I have worked and been in the education system for the last six years. I have worked with many students from pre-k to eighth grade, as a paraprofessional and teacher, and currently certified to teach students from K-12. Many of my students have different learning abilities and with my "meet them where they're at approach" I am able to create a plan to help my students succeed in a way that is individualized and tailored to their own needs. I have an undergraduate degree, and am currently working on my professional degree while holding a license in the Teaching of English to Speakers of Other Languages. Both degrees have to do with English and language proficiency, however not limited to those subjects. My Bachelor of Arts degree is in Science Letters and Society, which is a degree created for future teachers. The workload for this degree entailed a thorough study of the foundations of English, literature, mathematics, social science, physical science, society, and the cultures of people and the societies in which they live. My professional degree, one that I am still going to school for, is in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), which grants me the opportunity to teach students whose native languages are different than that of English. Moreover, my professional degree entails a thorough study of linguistics and phonics, the application of such, and how to be culturally relevant throughout the practice. I look forward to working with you!
I'm here to help those that need a better understanding in the topics that seem too difficult to tackle alone. Rest assured you will end our session with a clear understanding. And to the parents please feel free to message me with any concerns that involve your child's education. I'm here to help every student!
Hi my name is Keegan Fernandes and Im a third year medical student. I love teaching a variety of subjects but my favorite subject is Biology. Hopefully we can learn a few things and make it an interactive process.
I believe that every student can learn if the right approach is used. Finding the right buttons for the student to push is the real job of the tutor.
I am graduate of The College of Staten Island, NY, where I completed both my Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees. In regards to my Bachelor, I majored in accounting, with minors in finance and economics. My master focused on elementary education. I am also a certified grant writer and a certified building administrator (ex. coaching, supervisor/Asst. Principal). I have always been passionate about educating myself, and others who I come into contact with. I am presently working on my doctorate in curriculum and instruction. My favorite subjects are Math and Reading. I truly believe that without mastering those two, one will always struggle with the other subjects. I have been an educator over 20 years and have had the pleasure of successfully sharing my knowledge with many students over the years. Every Saturday, I volunteer to serve at our neighborhood pantry. On a personal note, I have a wonderful 9yr old chihuahua named Candy who loves to play a lot. I even taught her how to play soccer, and she loves riding in the car. I love gardening, cooking and going for daily walks with my neighbors. Life is great, but obtaining an education makes it even better!!
I read this quote at one point in my life and it just made sense to me and I feel it applies to most of the things we do in life. Never settle for failure always strive to succeed."Failure happens all the time. It happens every day in practice. What makes you better is how you react to it."-Mia Hamm
I love math. I had a fantastic math teacher when I was in high school who helped me realize my potential in math. I am a middle school math teacher today because of her inspiration. Being a teacher makes me further realize that it is very difficult to give individual attention to students in large classes. I would love to help you in your math subject whether your goal is to pass the class or if you want to challenge yourself.I have a bachelor's degree in Childhood Education from St. John's University and a master's degree in Special Education from the College of Staten Island. I have since taken several other classes to extend my license to teach middle school mathematics.I have been a math tutor since 2009 working with students of all ages from pre-K to college level. My favorite subjects to tutor include high school level math because it brings with it various challenges and applications. I also enjoy tutoring with younger students because I get to use manipulatives and pictures to help students understand the math.I believe students learn best when I meet them at their level and determine their learning style. Everyone learns in different ways and my first goal would be to find out your learning style.
