Little did I know becoming an educator would be more than a career choice; it became a time for my own character education. The years I served as a classroom teacher were as much about me learning as they were about instructing others. Since then, my commitment to support the development and self-improvement of others has not wavered.Ten years as a public school teacher equates to approximately 2,000 students and was a pivotal time in cultivating skills as an instructional designer. It was also critical in honing my abilities as a facilitator who successfully engages participants and adapts instruction to meet diverse learning styles.I am NYS certified English teacher with ten years of instructional, design and assessment experience for both general and honors programs, and a Master of Science degree in Adolescence Education. I specialize in tutoring English, Literature, Writing, Vocabulary, SAT, ACT, NYS English Regents, and general topics related to language arts.

My background is diverse both academically and geographically. I was born and raised in Athens, Greece where I graduated with my Bachelor of Science in Accounting & Finance from Athens University of Economics & Business (2004). My passion for learning and experiencing new cultures led me to New York City where I graduated with a Masters in Business Administration (MBA in Marketing) from Pace University (2008).Currently, I work for ABC Languages, a language school in Manhattan, teaching Greek to children and adults in private and group settings. I also work for Penguin Random as an online Greek teacher and a translator. Last but not least, for the past nine months I am with Kidz Choice Services, Inc as an ABA therapist in bilingual environments (English and Greek) where I successfully completed my Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) Certification. I also observed several hours of clinical trials both in private and school settings. In addition, I participated in several seminars such as, "Seminar on Discrete Trial Training (DTT)" and "Seminar on self-injurious behavior & self-stimulatory behavior", followed by three practical hours respectively. At the same time, I am pursuing a Masters in Early Childhood Education & Special Education at Touro College. My path so far has given me the opportunity to develop a wide variety of skills -classroom experience in diverse environmental and geographical settings, excellent critical and analytical thinking, problem solving and research, and organizational and communications skills- which makes me an ideal tutor.
I am a graduate of Emerson College where I received my B.S. in Mass Communications, and earned my M.S. from Pace University where I studied publishing. Everyone has a story to tell and some people feel they cannot express it in words. However, with patience, organization, and practice, they can become better at doing so. I have worked at a newspaper and also do medical editing. I have helped young and adult students become better writers and readers. As a result, they have increased confidence. My desire is to see students progress, not only academically, but be strengthened with skills that will help them in the future. Having met children from around the world through humanitarian work, what is consistent is that we all have a dream and a unique story. If you need help, I'd like to help you tell yours. I have had mentors help me in my schooling and career and likewise want to offer the same. On a personal note, my hobbies always grow. I love to travel, do crafty things, study naturopathy, play guitar, sing, I'm a foodie, and also make cosmetics like a scientist. I'm willing to try new things, and enjoy creation outdoors.

I love math, and have a passion for sharing that love and knowledge. Progressing through courses of mathematics teaches much beyond what is on the page. It teaches problem-solving, critical and creative thinking. I try not only to teach the mechanics of math, but instill an appreciation for the skills the process can develop. And while math is my favorite subject to tutor, I have had training in and am qualified for all sections of SAT and ACT test prep, and enjoy working with students to help them learn and meet their college goals.
