I am a sophomore at Cornell University studying Biological Sciences and Spanish. I do molecular bio/genetics research with fruit flies, dance, and sing in the CU chorus. I was the student director of my high school's Academic Resource Center, tutoring in math, science, Spanish, and SAT/ACT for 3+ years. I have worked with Varsity Tutors for about 2 years.

I am currently in my junior year at Union College. I will graduate with a B.S. in Biology in June of 2016, and plan to go to medical school after. My tutoring experience is quite varied. Back in high school I was the TA for a computer science course and a volunteer tutor in chemistry and biology. More recently, I have done more informal tutoring, such as helping friends at college with biochemistry and MCAT preparation, and helping my younger sister with note taking skills, AP US History, and ACT prep. I tutor a wide range of subjects, from computer science to history and biochemistry to critical reading. My favorite subjects to tutor though, are standardized test prep and biochemistry. Though enjoying standardized tests is not a common opinion, I have always liked the logical nature of standardized test questions, and the fact that simply by working on a few test taking skills students can see marked improvement. Biochemistry, while far from a simple field, is one of my favorite subjects. I find the chemical basis for how biological mechanisms work to be fascinating. Biomedical research is also a passion of mine; I have worked in a handful of labs since high school, from a critical care surgical lab studying treatments for Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome to a study on managing diabetes. In my free time, I enjoy reading (especially nonfiction scientific or political books), playing tennis, listening to and playing music (I play piano), and the occasional Netflix marathon. I believe that no matter the subject, every student has the potential for success.
I am currently a first-year studying chemical engineering at Columbia University. I have tutored my peers throughout my high school career and currently I've been tutoring underprivileged elementary-aged students near Columbia's campus. I love working with children but am also excited to help older students be successful through their middle school and high school career. am willing to travel to locations relatively close to my campus (Morningside Heights area), can tutor students in public buildings on campus, and can tutor via online video-chat.
I am an interdisciplinary educator with an Ed.M. from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and a B.A. from Dartmouth College. I am an aspiring applied mathematician, with particular interest in image processing and climate science. I graduated in May 2017 from Washington University in St. Louis with a bachelor's in physics and mathematics, and am beginning a PhD program in September 2017 at the University of Chicago in Computational and Applied Mathematics. I've tutored introductory physics students for three years and enjoyed it thoroughly, as a chance to help other students while revisiting fundamental concepts to enhance my own knowledge. I'm eager to continue reaching out and helping students of math and physics to succeed and, furthermore, to appreciate the beauty and power of these subjects.

I am currently a senior at Harvard College where I study chemistry, and I'll be attending Columbia Medical School next year. I have years of experience tutoring college students in math (mostly calculus) and chemistry including both general and organic chemistry. In addition, I am very familiar with all sections of the SAT and ACT having prepared several high school students for these tests. I believe that every student is capable of boosting his or her baseline score on these tests, so long as he or she works hard to get to know the format of the tests and the most popular types of questions. I tutor because I love seeing students develop a genuine passion for the subjects they once disliked (such as math and science), once they understand the power of these subjects and their applications to the real world.
I am currently attending Johns Hopkins University, pursuing a dual degree in Computer Science and Applied Math and Statistics. I love helping students and I love the feeling I get knowing that I was able to use my knowledge to make someone else happier. My favorite subject to teach is math because there are so many ways to learn it and if one way does not help I can use another.
