I believe every individual is born with a unique set of gifts ,talents and abilities and when placed in a nurturing environment they will flourish. Based on this belief it is my desire to create an atmosphere that fosters, not hinders the success of my students. Many years ago I began my career as an educational specialist with the New York City Department of Probation and I provided tutorial services for juvenile delinquents involved in the juvenile court system. Although the youngsters were court mandated to attend a computer lab for tutorial services they were not required to participate in activities once they completed the tutoring lab, However, I wrote a play about going back to school after summer break, and all the participants agreed to perform in the play. I expressed interest in them and recognized they all had abilities despite their setbacks. It was my belief in them that kept them returning and participating when they didn't have to . I hold true to this same philosophy today and display it with students I am working out. I have a firm conviction that every individual on this earth was born with the ability to succeed and I approach my tutorial sessions with the same belief which I have carried with me all of these years.
I am a graduate of CUNY The City College of New York, with a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and I am currently pursuing a masters degree in Civil Engineering at SUNY Buffalo University. I strongly believe that supporting future generations helps us invest in a brighter tomorrow. As a civil engineer, it has become my passion to help students unlock their potential in any ways I can. My approach to tutoring is to make challenging subjects more accessible and engaging particularly for students who may lack resources or guidance. Throughout my volunteering work I have gained valuable experience teaching STEM subjects to students in an after school setting. Helping each individual student have a better understanding of different topics. I aim to inspire enthusiasm in my students by fostering critical thinking and problem-solving skills. By establishing a solid foundation in math and sciences students can approach any academic challenge with confidence and curiosity.

As career educator who is also a former procrastinator, I am well-equipped to assist students in a variety of academic subjects and study skills. I've taught middle and high school students, and spent the past 10 years teaching English Lit and Composition to college and post graduate students.

I'm a graduate of the City University of New York. I received my Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Computer Science and my Master of Science (MSc) in Mathematics from Lehman College and The City College of New York, respectively. Growing up, like many other students, I struggled learning math. When I was 10 years old, my mom hired a private tutor to help me with my 4th grade math class. So I know what it feels like to be the only person in the classroom who feels left out because they're falling behind their peers in grasping new material. I get it. This is why I decided to pursue tutoring because I can empathize with students who are struggling, and love to see how, with guidance and support, their knowledge and self-confidence increase. With my calm, patient, non-judgmental, and friendly personality, I've successfully helped dozens of students overcome their confusion, fear, and apprehension for math over the past 5 years. I'm confident I can help you, too! I'm currently available to tutor pre-algebra, algebra, & pre-calculus. In my free time, I enjoy gaming, lifting, playing chess, and volunteering at my local church. I'm also a huge fan of the original Yu-Gi-Oh series!
I believe in personalizing each lesson to fit each student's interests. For example, a math lover may prefer to work with templates that make writing more formulaic. I also take into account the accommodations needed for those students with IEPs, 504 plans, and other special needs.
I'm a youth educator, researcher, and artist. I've taught in a variety of learning spaces from living rooms and community centers to classrooms. On the subject of writing, reading and literacy I've worked with students in 1st grade and 5th through undergraduate college. I enjoy people, yoga, nature, and nurturing the creativity and desire to learn in others. I truly believe learning should be a joyous process. As a student of English literature, Creative Writing and Cultural Studies my experiences have taught me that the connection, creativity, and care fostered through striving to reach new understandings and ways of knowing is endlessly rewarding. I graduated a four-time awarded fellow, Phi Beta Kappa member, and high honors student from the City College of New York in 2019. I'm looking forward to tutoring you and helping you to achieve your goal!
I attended CUNY (City University of New York). I earned my A.A.S from NYCT College. While working as an intern I went on to earn by Bachelor's degree in Operations Management at Baruch College.Currently, I work as a substitute teacher at NYC Charter Schools. It is a pleasure to have a chance on a daily basis to go to different schools and teach different subjects. Some days I work with a classroom that may have up to 30 students. It could be Primary, Middle, or High school students. Other times I work with one student for the school day. We work on all classroom subjects including math, reading, writing, social studies and others. My teaching style is to encourage participation. I want my students to ask questions. Different students learn at different rate however if the student is participating by asking questions, motivation level is elevated hence a higher chance to learn the given subject. When I am not working, I love to read but I also like watching British comedies and the Doctor Who series.
