I recently graduated Cum Laude from Stony Brook University with a degree in Applied Mathematics and Statistics. My work at Stony Brook primarily focused on statistics and data analysis. During my time at Stony Brook I worked as an undergraduate teaching assistant; it was during that work that I discovered that I not only had a passion, but a skill in helping others understand mathematics. I believe that math is a beautiful tool in everyday life, and I seek to help others understand why math is both important and useful in their lives. Many traditional mathematics courses focus on rigor, theory, and proofs, which does not help the student understand how they can apply those concepts to everyday life. I like to work with students to help them understand how the concepts they learn in the classroom can be applied to real world situations. The age-old question for a frustrated mathematics student is, "When am I ever going to use this in real life?" I seek to help people answer that question, and understand mathematical concepts wholly and intuitively; which I believe is the best way to foster a lifelong love of the numbers that make our world work.

I'm a medical resident. looking to tutor in biology, anatomy, math, and MCAT prep. Teaching is one of my passions, and I have tutored since I was in high school. I continued to tutor while at Stony Brook University where I graduated with a double major in applied math and bioinformatics/computational biology. Due to unfortunate circumstances, I need to stay home for the next few months. I do not want to stop my tutoring so here I am looking to help students virtually! Medical school has made biology my favorite subject to tutor in as I've really nailed in me how to learn and understand a lot of material in a short amount of time. Medical school has taught me many approaches and tactics to making learning more efficient I wish I knew about earlier. I am a PhD student studying marine biology at Stony Brook University, where I study how plankton (very small animals in the ocean) move around and catch food. Before coming to graduate school, I did my undergraduate degree in Biology at Tufts University in Medford/Somerville, MA. My hobbies include knitting, running, and, of course, reading!Another one of my long-term interests is education. I worked with preschoolers for a full year in college through an AmeriCorps literacy program in low-income preschools. Later, I worked as a teaching assistant for five semesters (three as an undergraduate, and two as a graduate student), teaching biology, chemistry, and environmental science. Most recently, I worked at a local tutoring center with students ages 7-16, tutoring reading/writing, English, and math. I have also worked with several high school and undergraduate student research volunteers in the lab.My favorite subjects are math and science, but I also love reading, writing, and French! I spent five months living in France during my undergraduate degree, and I speak near-fluent French. I love working with kids and young adults, and I'd be happy to work with you to develop study strategies and learn new things!

I am a sophomore at Stony Brook University on the pre- med track studying towards a major in Psychology. I love Biology, chemistry, and Psychology and am currently teaching my own chemistry course at Stony Brook University under the guidance of Dr. Troy Wolfskill, the head of the chemistry department at the university. So far I love my teaching position as it not only brings me happiness in helping others succeed, but it helps me build a stronger understanding on how to be a better instructor. When I teach, I try not to lecture the student, but engage them by connecting what I teach with real-life scenarios. Especially in hard sciences like biology, this makes it much easier for students to understand the topic. Outside of academia, I am a professional swimmer of 15 years, I love to hike, bike, and scuba dive. I also work part time as a model and am a market specialist for Bai, a drink company based in the northeastern America.

I am a current civil engineering graduate at Stony Brook University. I enjoy helping students in my free time, especially those with interests associated with STEM, to understand the material they are learning in their academics.I am also a current tunnel engineering intern for Mott MacDonald, and am in the process of obtaining my EIT, as I passed my FE - Civil Exam in the fall of 2022!

I received my undergraduate degree in Psychology & Experimental Neuroscience from Elon University, located in North Carolina. Shortly thereafter I began to work towards my PhD in the field of experimental neuroscience research. My strongest subjects include statistics, math, and the sciences. My favorite subject to tutor would have to be statistics, mostly because I have taken so many classes in this subject that it is like second nature at this point. Outside of my education, I am an avid golfer. As a scratch handicap, I went to college on scholarship to play for a Division I NCAA team.

While obtaining my first doctorate, I filled the role of senior prosector in the anatomy lab, a task typically reserved for elite anatomists, which created a powerful self-realization and redirected my life's objective. My purpose gradually presented itself while investing copious amounts of hours into thinking, studying, and working with cadavers. An innate artistic ability not only allows me to captivate detail but also to refine the hand motor skills necessary to execute meticulous dissections of human specimens.I aspire to produce work that will outlive me and live by the statement of Ben Franklin, "Either write something worth reading or do something worth writing." Trained in science, I objectify uncertainty from a logical perspective. My artistic side allows me to reveal answers to scientific questions from an imaginative angle. With these character traits, I am able to weave the web of the scientific literature.By fearing what we are inside, there is little hope in accepting anything beyond ourselves. While I am receptive to the aesthetic beauty that is available to everyone, I also attempt to reveal a greater beauty by understanding the wondrous design beneath the skin of the noble men and women who have donated their bodies to science.

I am a biology major at Stony Brook University. I will be graduating this coming December and will be applying to medical schools for next year. Since I was young science especially biology has always fascinated me. Biology is the study of life and is a science that all of us can relate to. Growing up I too struggled in grade school and would often need the help of tutors to enrich my learning experience.Throughout this journey I've had the incredible opportunity of being tutored by some of the best teachers, many of whom explained the material better than my own professors did. Each of these tutors had their own individual styles of teaching and explaining concepts, and I have tried my best to assimilate their techniques when I teach students. My approach to teaching is very eclectic as I pick and choose the best strategies and ways to help students learn the material. I served 3 semesters as a biology teaching assistant at Stony Brook where I tutored students in subjects like Cancer biology and Cellular biology. Having taken the AP Biology exam and the SAT II Biology E/M in high school I also am aware of the type of material that is being tested in high school.With every student I meet I try to get to know their unique circumstances. Having a syllabus of their course work would be helpful since it would allow me to see which topics I should be focusing on. I am very willing to help my students succeed and welcome them to email me whenever they have questions.Aside from school, I have many interests and hobbies. I have been an avid piano player for the last 12 years and performed many times for NYSSMA. I am also a practitioner of Karate which I have also been doing for about 12 years. During my free time I like to read non-fiction books and write blogs online. I enjoy meeting new people and believe everyone has an interesting story to tell.

I earned my bachelor's degree in chemical engineering, then worked in the computer database software industry as a pre-sales engineer, consultant, trainer, and quality assurance engineer. Consulting in several industries gave me broad exposure to real-world problems and a work ethic that may serve as a role model. I learned to listen to problems and come up with creative and practical solutions. As a trainer and pre-sales engineer, I co-wrote a tutorial, created class materials, and made many technical presentations about "leading edge" software, and so became skilled at explaining complex concepts. My work in QA reinforced my obsession with quality and gave me a good eye for seeing and diagnosing errors, which applies to student errors and misunderstandings.I have tutored on and off since my college days, in math, science and ESL. I approach tutoring with a positive attitude, a good ear for listening, patience, respect, and humor. I have a bias toward deep understanding rather than rote memorization.

I am currently a recent M.S. graduate in Speech-Language Pathology. My clinical experiences with various populations, both children and adults, have taught me the importance of creativity and personalizing session. I am dedicated to motivate each student to reach his/her personal goals, and adapt to each students interests through the learning process.I have 6 years of experience working children in the special education setting. I previously worked as in teacher assistant in both the preschool and elementary school. My duties included monitoring classroom, preparing activities, encouraging the growth of ADL skills, as well as support their motor, speech and language, and academic development. I found my experiences in this setting both enlightening and rewarding. This fostered my passion to pursue speech-language pathology.My tutoring experiences include both young students and adults. During my undergraduate career at Stony Brook University, I tutored international students in English for more than a year. I was also a teacher assistant for 100 students in an Intro to Linguistics class, where I held review sessions and made worksheets. I have also had experiences tutoring 3rd grade and 7th grade students, individually and in the group setting. I primarily tutored in the subject of elementary mathematics and algebra.In addition, I have also tutored both 1st and 2nd grade classrooms for two years at a NYC DOE school in the Lower East Side. I have become familiar with the Common Core curriculum. I primarily assisted students throughout a variety of academic subjects, such as reading, writing, math, science, and social studies. It was beautiful to watch students of all academic levels reach their own milestones over these two years. I learned so much about how each student approached the different aspects of the common core curriculum, as well as their learning styles. I encouraged each student to celebrate even their smallest achievements, and was touched by the amount of curiosity and passion students developed in the classroom setting.As a continuous learner myself, I have compassion, patience, and empathy for students who may find difficulty in understanding particular subjects and content.
