Salutations! My name is Micheal and I have been a Science tutor since 2009. I believe people naturally excel at things they enjoy, for me that is teaching. Originally my work focused on assisting students with classes I had previously taken while attending Assumption College in Worcester, Massachusetts. I found an honest excitement helping an individual grapple and ultimately grasp complex subjects pertaining to Chemistry and Biology. There is a personal reward and a level of pride that comes with helping someone learn. This feeling pushed me to seek other teaching opportunities. During my final year in college I was hired as a tutor for Boston Global, a small company which helps recently immigrated students in handling course material. That was a unique experience because it helped develop a talent for connecting to students with whom I may have had little in common. After graduation I moved to Washington D.C. to work at a gene sequencing laboratory. During my time in the capitol I was employed by a tutor contractor which helped me find numerous high school and college level students to tutor. Now I am back home working at Massachusetts General Hospital and looking to continue my career as a tutor. My experience and talent lie in the sciences because put simply, I love Science. That love is evident in my work and in the past has helped me get other students excited about the subject, and with that excitement came good grades.

I am a graduating senior at the University of Richmond, studying Communications and Media Studies with minors in Business Administration and Film Studies. I've worked as a Writing Consultant and Peer Advisor for the last two years, assisting my classmates with writing skills and career documents.I love helping students reach their full potential and devising fun ways to teach and learn.

I am a former high school teacher and current PhD student. I have many years of experience tutoring middle school and five years of experience teaching a variety of high school subjects. I am passionate about education and hope to get to work with you!

After leaving the tech industry in 2016 I have worked as a mathematics tutor for a private company and substituted at high schools.I have extensive experience tutoring and teaching high school students Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, and Pre-Calculus topics. I am currently a Senior Chemistry major student at Howard University. I transferred from Prince George's Community college where I majored in General Education. While at school, I enrolled into the AVID tutoring program, STEM collegian and SIR student programs. Through these platforms, I was exposed to many activities of leadership and community service. The AVID tutoring program was most significant because, I was able to reach out to middle and high school students who needed help in math.My effectiveness as a tutor comes from my ability to communicate and listen attentively to each individual's needs. Given the fact that everyone has different levels of comprehension, I aim at understanding the specific area of weakness and strength for each individual. I then start from what you know and understand easily to what seems to be confusing or difficult to understand. I also make sure that as soon as a concept becomes clear, we move on to solve as many problems as possible relating to that concept for more understanding.I acquired most tutoring skills at PGCC and HU math labs (the schools I attended). The math labs were used primarily for helping students finish-up assignments on time, improve grades in math courses, prepare for math placement exams and get an overall understanding of any subject matter relating to math. At these labs, I did a work-study program and served as a volunteer for 20 hours every week. I helped college students get better grades, get a better understanding of the subject matter and complete their homework in a timely manner. My joy and satisfaction came from the feedback I got from students who would say "you helped me get an A on my exam" , "you helped me pass this class" and many students said "math isn't that hard." I specialize in tutoring the basic concepts/courses in math which I believe is the basis for getting a good grasp of the subject matter. I grew up loving math because I spend hours in my early years in school trying to understand the basic concepts and once I got a hold of certain concepts, it set a tone for higher level math and made it seem so easy. For the past 37 years, I have devoted my life to Christian service among the poor and diverse communities in Guatemala, California, and Oklahoma City.I especially enjoy teaching English (ESL/ELL), Spanish, and History. My focus in teaching is to help students achieve their goals and to expand their skills for a more productive life. As a teacher, I introduce my students to balance the more advanced questions of each subject with the practical need to focus on the main points.

I tutored throughout college, providing assistance to students on anything from essay-writing to understanding sustainability initiatives such as composting and energy conservation. I was lucky enough to have encountered incredible teachers throughout my education, and intend to provide the same care and attention to each of my students. I recently completed my Master of Science, and will be attending medical s book in July.
