I believe the student has the biggest stake in their education. I also believe that education is not simply the memorization of facts and their regurgitation, but the method by which a person learns to pursue their passions. As a tutor, my aim is to do whatever it takes to light that fire and keep it burning. Through scientifically documented means, the student can begin to take control of their education and use it as a means to pursue their goals in school and in life.

What's up! I'm Hayley. I am a registered diagnostic medical sonographer that's an absolute nerd when it comes to ultrasound. I have been a TA in Saudi Arabia for about 2 years. The Saudi government has given me a full scholarship to pursue my education. Currently, I am in the master's program, Applied and computational mathematics at Rochester Institute of Technology, NY.Young students often think that math is an extra subject in high school or in non-math major, so they do not pay much attention. Eventually, they realize that math is almost in every college's programs. Some students prefer one-to-one teaching style, so they start looking for tutors. I felt the same thing when I was young. That is why I want to help students to overcome their obstacles in math subjects. I do not want students to be frustrated in science subjects because of the math parts.Mathematics is the brain exercise. You need to practice what you learn in order to maintain and build your levels in math. I will give you the tools that you need to do that. Always remember; what makes you expert is the amount of time for practice.

I graduated from the Rochester Institute of Technology Physician Assistant Program in 2012 with a bachelor's degree in science and a minor in Psychology. After graduating, I moved to Boston, where I worked as a Physician Assistant in the Cardiac Surgery Unit at Massachusetts General Hospital. Medicine is an amazing profession, but my favorite part of the job was when I got the opportunity to be an educator. Whether it was patients trying to understand what was happening to their bodies, prospective students seeing if the field of medicine was for them, medical students working on their clinical rotations, or new hires learning the ropes, getting the chance to sit down with people and share my knowledge and love of the material was consistently the highlight of my day. I've always had an aptitude for math and science and have been unofficially tutoring my peers since middle school. I believe that if you present any subject matter in a functional way that focuses on developing a strong understanding of the core concepts, you can make even the most complicated material accessible and applicable without the need for hours spent on rote memorization. This method has proven to instill a deep working knowledge of the material in students of all ages that will stay with them long after they pass the test. In my spare time I'm a comedian who enjoys both comedy improvisation and stand up, and I'm also a life-long gamer always on the hunt for that next great puzzle to solve!

I have always loved math and science. That's why I went to college for physics. After graduating from the Rochester Institute of Technology, I went on to get my Masters and PhD from Kent State University. My dream was to become a research scientist and make the kind of interesting discoveries that I heard about when I was a kid. However, I discovered that I enjoy teaching much more than doing research so I became a high school teacher. In addition to teaching high school math and physics, I have taught math at a community college and physics at a university. I spent several years working as a tutor while I was in college and a teaching assistant in grad school. I have also done private tutoring for high school and college students. I am comfortable with any level of math or physics. I always try to make my lessons relatable to my students by using real-world examples like riding in a car. After teaching high school for six years, I decided to go back to school for medical physics so that I could use my love for physics to help people suffering from cancer. I now work at a radiation oncology clinic but I did not lose my passion for teaching.

Tutors who attended or graduated from RIT bring firsthand experience with rigorous engineering, STEM, and technical coursework. They've mastered the material, understand common student challenges, and know effective strategies for tackling complex problem sets. Beyond academics, RIT alumni tutors understand the collaborative, project-based learning approach the university emphasizes, which helps them guide students through real-world applications and hands-on learning.

RIT alumni tutors are particularly strong in STEM fields including mathematics, physics, computer science, engineering (mechanical, electrical, software), and chemistry. Many also tutor business, information technology, and technical writing. Because RIT's curriculum emphasizes applied problem-solving and computation, these tutors excel at breaking down complex concepts and connecting theory to practical applications—skills that benefit students across all levels.

Yes. RIT alumni tutors can provide valuable insight into what makes a strong application, discuss the rigor of different majors, and help students prepare for the academic demands they'll face. If you're considering engineering, computing, or other technical fields at RIT or similar universities, learning from someone who's successfully completed that pathway can be especially valuable for understanding coursework expectations and study strategies that work.

Varsity Tutors connects you with tutors who understand not just the content, but the specific challenges of learning it at an elite technical institution. An RIT graduate tutor can share authentic problem-solving strategies, study techniques, and confidence-building advice based on their own experience mastering difficult material.

Absolutely. If you're preparing for the jump to college-level mathematics, physics, or engineering, an RIT graduate understands the increased rigor and expectations. They can help you build foundational skills, develop effective study habits, and approach problem-solving strategically—all essential for success in intensive STEM programs. Having a tutor who's navigated that transition themselves can make the adjustment smoother.

Simply let us know you're interested in working with a tutor who attended Rochester Institute of Technology, along with your subject and goals.
