My teaching career spans from 1974 to 2013. Throughout these years I taught the elementary grades- PreK to grade 4.I have worked with students who were frustrated and angry, and some who were willing to learn. What I am happy about is that I was able to see success in my classroom by using specific strategies.I was able to impact the lives of many of my students throughout those years. One subject that I saw growth and understanding in was mathematics. In math I always used manipulatives. Students in the lower grades get a better understanding of a topic when they use hands on material. I also allowed my students to work in groups. Allowing group work in the classroom further helps students to develop skills of cooperation, sharing and appreciation of others. Journal writing can be done in all subject areas, and I also incorporated it in my classes. I also allowed peer tutoring so that students can help each other. Applying to be a tutor at this time would not only help my students but it will also help me to keep abreast of what is happening in education. I would like to be a tutor because I have the experience and the knowledge. I know I will make a difference in the life of a student who needs that extra assistance.

I love to laugh, enjoying seeing my students learn and is very patient and is a great listener. Math is a subject I love to teach. My pass job experiences in the banking industry, computer (AI) systems, and teaching in the schools directed me to know this is a subject I'd love to teach. Also Social Studies, just knowing about history and how it was formed over the years, to see the view of the world from different perspectives also is a joy of mine. Student success and reaching their goal is very dear to me. My teachers took note of my eagerness to learn and took a personal interest in seeing me succeed. Because of that I bring the same attitude to my teaching and working with students to do their very best.
