I am an extremely driven, patient, and kind person who is dedicated to learning and helping others learn! Everyone has the potential to do great and learn, its just a matter of finding your individual learning style, and I am here to help with that!

I have a Bachelor's degree from Hofstra University and an MBA from Long Island University. I hold the CFP(Certified Financial Planner) and a ChFC(Charter Financial Consultant) designations. Since 2014 I have been an adjunct professor at Berkeley College in New York City teaching both onsite and online. I primarily teach the CFP courses but I have also taught undergraduate accounting and finance courses. I like helping students as the memory of struggling through a class is still fresh with me. Tutoring gives me the opportunity to reduce or eliminate that same feeling a student may have. As a college professor my approach has been to "be the professor I wish I had." More specifically, a professor who not only knows the material but is able to present it in a memorable way. In my spare time I am enjoy taking drum lessons (I am student too and tend to have a "hungry brain") and practicing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

I am a mom of four and I enjoy teaching. I have not found a grade in my years of teaching that is my favorite, as each has its own unique qualities. Being a part of helping someone in their educational journey is exciting. I have taught for 30 years as a general education teacher and special education teacher/coordinator. I have experience with all grades elementary through high school. I have taught a variety of subjects. I ELA/Math and writing are my specialties. I work with students who struggle academically in hopes of building their confidence and grades simultaneously. Lastly, executive functioning is a skill set that I have been able to support students in which impacts their ability to function at their highest potential.

All of what I know has been actually gained doing various jobs while I may of started with book knowledge practical applications are different in terms of how things work to some degree.I started my career on the Coffee, Sugar and Cocoa exchange's trading floor at a young age, then moved upstairs to run Bear Stearns's energy futures desk using my options knowledge and learning the energy complex. So wearing the sales/trader/strategist hat I built a team to assist oil companies hedge using futures and options. We designing customized hedging strategies for the largest oil refiners, oil transportation and exploration, airlines and trucking companies. These strategies used futures, options and OTC swaps. During my time at two firms was involved in building electronic trading platforms over 20 years ago. While marketing an equity derivative trading platform I was offered a position on an equity derivatives brokerage desk as a sales/trader for an inter-dealer broker. Here I acted like an extension of my clients trading desks executing delta neutral trades, risk reversals and many other strategies either on a held or not held basis. Held means I am given the price by the client to fill and not held means the order is at my discretion to pick the price. Here we traded large institutional size orders of every strategy for the banks client who are sophisticated hedge funds, asset managers and clients were desks in a bank who used me instead of their in-house trading desks. I have been involved in quantitative portfolio management recently designing customized passive investment strategies for state pension funds using quantitative data to help them generate alpha with little tracking error risk. I have a Masters degree from Baruch in Finance. What I could help a Varsity Tutors client understand is futures, equities and options, commodities especially energy both paper and physical usage, pricing and use in a strategy either for profit or hedging. Also, technical and quantitative analysis such as understanding graphing and more advanced tools such as moving averages, stochastic and market profile. Also, I can impart a trader's mentality outlook, having been a trader in several asset classes. My areas of expertise are the energy complex, crude and heating oil, RBOB gasoline, natural gas in both physical and futures and options. My energy knowledge includes OTC natural gas basis swaps and futures crack, heat and spark spreads. Equities and equity options pricing and quantitative portfolio overlay strategies theory and construction.

I am a lifetime learner who enjoys sharing my knowledge with others, as well as learning from others. I am passionate about helping students for I was once a student; having several great tutors, this allowed me to succeed in both College and Graduate School, and I yearn to give back the same knowledge to others. I have worked with students in elementary, middle, and high school, as well as college. I have also worked with adults returning to college, and I have enjoyed tutoring and mentoring students in each group.I graduated from Iona College with a Bachelors In Business Administration, majoring in Finance; Long Island University with a MBA, majoring in Business Administration Management; and most recently Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary with a Masters of Arts in Religion, majoring in Pastoral Counseling.Business Writing and World Religions are my favorite subjects to tutor; I love to write, have written extensively, and I also love Religion. My teaching style is simple, I find out where the student is, I asses the pace the student learns at, and I adjust my teaching method to meet the student where they are. I love to give lots of examples and scenarios so that the student can grasp the concept clearly.Outside of academia, preaching, travel and reading interests me on the whole. There are so many wonderful things to learn! I am a lifelong teacher. I hold a New York State teaching certification in art and live on Long Island, in New York, where I have tutored professionally since 1985. Over these many years, I have worked with students from 5 years through 80 years of age, and at all levels of academic achievement, including students who were home schooled and those with IEPs. I have tutored the GRE, GMAT, and LSAT exams for students who were candidates for graduate school, and have worked with students taking the NTE and NYSTCE exams to earn New York State teacher certification. For the past fifteen years, I have focused on SAT, ACT, SSAT and ISEE prep, which I really enjoy. Over these fifteen years and literally hundreds of students, I have honed my style and skills. I develop strong rapport with my students, seek out their individual needs, foster healthy improvements in their scores and work to build their confidence. I have a small backyard nursery, and I spend much of my personal time tending to my plants and enjoying needle arts and painting.

I currently have my Master of Science degree in Criminal Justice, from Long Island University - CW Post. I have a strong background in a variety of different subjects. I've been a university professor for the past five years and have been tutoring for as long as I can remember. I began tutoring informally while I was still in high school, helping friends get ready for their SATs, helping them with assignments. I realized quickly that I was suddenly helping half of my school so I decided to make some fliers, and some money, and offer my tutoring to anyone and everyone in my hometown. Suffice to say, some odd years have gone by since then and now, even as a full-time professor, I find myself enjoying the experience of tutoring and helping students on an individual level enough to continue doing it. With a background in the sciences and mathematics, and a graduate degree in philosophy I'm incredibly well-rounded in terms of what I'm capable of teaching and moreover, have a generally positive pedagogical approach to everything; I really do love teaching. Even fields in which I have little experience become a contest with myself to master solely for the sake of helping a student. I have extensive experience in reading, writing, and editing (I've been published several times over as both head author and editor) and its something that I truly love to do. I currently hold three Undergraduate degrees in Mathematics, Physics, and Linguistics, as well as two Graduate degrees in Philosophy and Theology. I am a special educator. My decades of experience include working with various populations of children with disabilities. I received a Masters degree in Education/Special Education from Long Island University. Later, I've earned an advanced degree in teaching students with visual impairments.Recently I've earned a doctorate degree in special education. I am familiar with teaching any subject to struggling learners, but I am most excited about teaching math. I believe the importance of education in a person's life, and I value education above anything and everything. I am a life long learner, or an open minded person who never stops learning.I am very passionate about my work, but even more passionate about learning.

I enjoy helping people learn and thrive. I have a Bachelor's Degree in English Education and a Master's Degree in Special Education. Since teaching for over 19 years, I've learned that there are many styles of learning and that earning can be a lot of fun. I have worked as an administrator supporting students for years academically and emotionally.
