Trigonometry Tutoring review by Sam in Mundelein, IL
We spent our time on a review packet for the student's final tomorrow. As such, we went over many topics, but spent most of our time reviewing simplifying radical expressions of various roots containing numbers and variables, as well as the properties of exponents and logarithms in the context of solving equations. We did a number of practice problems for each subject, and he was much faster to recall the correct methodology. To a lesser extent, we also reviewed long division of polynomial expressions, a difference of two squares in the context of simplifying rational functions, imaginary numbers, inverse, direct, and joint variation and associated word problems, finding inverse functions and the related graphical concepts, and compound functions. He should do well on his exam.

Trigonometry Tutoring review by Tara in Mundelein, IL
Today we started tackling the student's study guide for his test next Wednesday. The test will cover all of the concepts from the class thus far, including dividing, multiplying, adding, and subtracting fractions with variables, factoring, proportions, direct and inverse variation, and simplifying complex expressions. We got nearly halfway through it today, and I asked the student to continue working on it as best he could (although I did tell him he could save anything he doesn't understand for our next session). So far, his grasp of the material is excellent, and his retention is great. All in all, though, he's making wonderful progress.

Trigonometry Tutoring review by Hsiao-harng in Mundelein, IL
I met the student for the first time and found out that she took two calculus tests which she didn't do well on. We looked at the tests together and went through what questions she missed on them. Some questions she missed had to do with finding the integral using the u-substitution, integration by parts, and trig substitution methods. I showed her how to use those methods. Other missed questions involved finding out if an integral converged or diverges using a comparison test. Then there was another set of question that relates to physics where you are given a velocity and use that velocity to find the distance traveled using integration. Although we were not able to get through all of the test questions, I was able to help her with all the test questions we looked at. I think we'll look at the rest of the test questions next time.
