Math Tutoring review by Joel in Mundelein, IL
We did a final review today. The girls seem to be doing pretty well in the class, and I'm sure they'll do great if they keep studying.

We worked on Trig review for the student's test the next day. We started with problems similar to those we did the first session, which were solving basic trig functions. We also covered material on inverse trig functions and the Law of Sines/Law of Cosines.

Math Tutoring review by Denise in Mundelein, IL
We were able to revisit most of the problems on the student's practice exam today, which seemed to be very helpful for her. She now has a much better understanding of when to use each equation and seems to be very comfortable with the material. I showed her where to find the appropriate equations in her book and gave her some general suggestions on how to approach the remaining problems.

Math Tutoring review by Sara in Mundelein, IL
Today was my first day tutoring the student in Pre-algebra. We reviewed some of the topics he was more concerned about, such as math properties and graphing inequalities. I also did a basic assessment of how he was doing with the other subject matter in the class, as well, and at the end, we focused on his current material, which is solving algebraic equations. I found the student to be a strong math student with a knack for mental computation.

Math Tutoring review by Charles in Mundelein, IL
The student has a test on chapter 8 this coming Monday. Today, we reviewed a chapter 8 quiz which her teacher stated would be very similar to the test. The concepts on the quiz included basic logarithm properties, logarithmic equations, exponential equations, and exponential growth/decay problems. We were able to work through the entire quiz and pulled multiple examples from her textbook. She seemed much more confident at the end of our session and stated that she "felt good" about where she was at. She continues to be a great student. She has no problem comprehending the material, but struggles to remember nuanced rules and properties necessary for solving equations. She showed vast improvement from our last session and I'm confident her grades will begin to pick up.

Math Tutoring review by Benjamin in Mundelein, IL
The student has a test coming up in her math class focusing on logarithms and exponents. She had been having trouble understanding the material and applying it to different types of problems. We discussed the differences between compound and continuous interest and how to use specific formulas to solve word problems involving interest. She will need to memorize these formulas. We also discussed how the graphs of logs/exponents behave and how the domain/range are affected by translations and reflections on the graph, as well as the properties of log functions used when expanding and simplifying expressions. Overall, the student indicated and demonstrated a greater understanding of logs and the problems in her packet. She should continue to review these problems Thursday to prepare for her test.
