Statistics Tutoring review by Richelle in Sandy, UT
The client is working on a doctorate in clinical psychology and had an assignment where she was given a dataset in SPSS and told to look through the variables, find some that interested her, run an analysis, find literature to support a hypothesis about those variables, and write up a report. We went through her data together (I have SPSS on my laptop) and ran a few different scenarios. We finally settled on a chi-square test that looked interesting and found literature to support her ability to write a report. She is going to meet with me again after she puts the report together to make sure that it is all in line before she submits it.

We went over a review worksheet for the student's upcoming midterm. The midterm covers estimating probabilities using the standard normal distribution, and interpreting linear regression models, and using them to make predictions. She showed a good understanding of the material. We also spent time reviewing the concepts behind using Z-scores.

The student and I went over the beginning chapters of her class. We talked about introductory definitions and discussed different types of data. She then dug into some studies and worked to dissect their attributes. She is going to print out the slides and hole punch them into a binder. She will also make photocopies of the back reference pages and flashcards.

Statistics Tutoring review by Mark in Sandy, UT
We discussed all the steps involved in calculating central tendency and dispersion (mean, sum of squares, variance, standard deviation, standard error) and went over some homework problems dealing with this topic. Some practice calculations were assigned based on random number generation. This material at first seemed difficult for the student to follow, but with practice and repetition, I am confident he will master it.

Statistics Tutoring review by Vincent in Sandy, UT
In this tutoring session, we covered the following concepts: the fundamental counting principle, independent/ dependent events, mutually exclusive events, "and/or" probabilities, combinations, and permutations. The student showed a strong understanding of the concept of combinations, specifically in regards to how to set up the necessary expressions. Perhaps the most difficult task noted in this session was conceptualizing the methods involved in certain types of problems (i.e., distinguishing when to use combinations, factorials, or the fundamental counting principle). Despite this difficulty, she demonstrated a confident and enthusiastic attitude throughout the entire session.
