I am a current undergraduate student at Cornell University. I began tutoring 4 years ago because I am passionate about helping students become confident in their academic skills and reach their academic goals. Each session with a student consists of consistent, guided instruction that fosters independence and confidence in their skills. While I can instruct in many subjects, I love to tutor in math and English.

I've been tutoring and teaching creative and literary subjects since Fall 2020. I graduated from Brown University with a Bachelors in Fine Art and have an independent studio practice. I am available to work with students of all ages for English Language Arts (ELA), including reading and reading comprehension, creative and analytical writing, and adjacent sections of standardized tests. I also offer guidance in studio art, art history, theater. I'm here to provide support and motivation for my students, and hope to help them feel confident and capable. I find kids to be inspiring and I strive to reciprocate.

I am senior at Cornell University majoring in Philosophy and Government with minors in Law and Society and Near Eastern Studies. Hailing from Central New Jersey, I have had years of tutoring experience mostly focusing on the liberal arts for all ages. My priority is to create an interactive and adaptive learning environment in which each session I can familiarize myself with the student's needs and habits. The student steers the lesson and lets me know how I can help and I do my best to ensure each lesson is tailored to them personally. I'm currently a sophomore at Johns Hopkins University double majoring in Molecular/Cellular Biology and Public Health, while also minoring in Financial Economics. I am passionate about tutoring because it allows me to help others succeed and thrive, which means a lot to me. I have previously been in situations when I was confused about a subject, and I would love to help out and clear up any questions. Tutor STEM and the SA are of my favorite subjects to tutor because it allows me to guide students through complex problems, helping them develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Personally, seeing students' "aha" moments when they grasp a tough concept is incredibly rewarding and motivates me to continue tutoring.

Hi - I'm Peter. I've always had a preference for math and science, which explains my undergrad choice in engineering. I graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. I received my MBA (Industrial Management) from the Wharton Graduate Division at U. of Pa. My primary work experience prior to teaching was in business planning and finance (more math). I started teaching because I enjoyed helping students at Baruch College prep for graduate school entrance exams (GMAT, LSAT, GRE). Later on, I aided community college students to break through their difficulties in basic math, algebra, quantitative literacy and statistics/probability (remedial math courses). Many of these students were the first in their families to attend college. I've been teaching math for 25+ years, both in a classroom setting and, more recently, on-line. I prefer to use a whiteboard and other visuals to present the problems and explain the methodology and steps that lead to the solution. If you are my student I would encourage you to first think through the problem and work it through on your own whenever possible, as it helps to foster self-confidence. Then I can step in and assist where I can to guide you to the correct solution. I like to put myself in my student's place in order to understand what hurdle(s) they need to overcome to solve the math question. I can explain approaches to the solution in several ways until it makes sense to you. I am available pretty much during the week or on weekends from late morning until early evenings and can make exceptions when necessary. I would be happy to hold an initial exploratory session at no charge just so we can get to know each other and agree on what we can accomplish together.

After 3 years of teaching Geometry and Algebra at my high school, I have picked up a passion for teaching students like myself! I can teach math (geometry, Algebra I/II, SAT math), English (SAT English, AP Lit/Lang, and general English courses). As I have just gotten through the college processes myself, I can also give deep insight into how the process works, strategies and tips I used to get into Harvard, and essay writing tips!

I am a researcher who graduated with a Ph.D. in materials science and engineering from Penn State University and a B.S. in applied physics from Columbia University. I have found great passion in teaching and mentoring students in physics and materials science, whether through informal educational training activities at the Discovery Space, assisting in laboratory classrooms for undergraduates, or helping students with difficult problem sets for thermodynamics or quantum mechanics. I've seen the best success when students can interact with a complicated concept in multiple ways and pull on their own experiences as metaphors to the system in question - after all, this is part of how science is actually done! Currently in my spare time, I enjoy reading, strategy games, and learning Mandarin.

I firmly believe that the vast majority of students who believe they are "bad at math" have tragically internalized this identity without true justification. I have personally seen students of mine shed that persona and it is a special thing to witness.
