Pre-Calculus Tutoring review by Thomas in Melrose Park, IL
We studied for the student's science final exam. We had to solve various problems involving mass, volume, and density, as well as define various terms like matter, volume, density etc. We studied for her math quiz this Friday which will cover rules of divisibility and using bar models to solve algebraic problems.

Yesterday was my first session with the student. We spent the session working through his homework. Comparing values was no problem, so we moved onto multiplying and dividing fractions, and then finally adding and subtracting fractions. He is a good student, I think he's going to do well in our sessions.

The student's next test, covering the whole of the course's discussion of probability, happens tomorrow. Things started with me showing proper usage of combinatorics to calculate the odds of various poker hands before we progressed through the study guide he procured. Things seemed to flow logically for him and he was frequently able to say where each number had come from in a particular step to the guide's solution to a problem. At the end I reviewed some basic antiderivative concepts using the classic physics example of a particle/object with a given acceleration function and two pieces of data to determine the positioning function.

Pre-Calculus Tutoring review by Amanda in Melrose Park, IL
Today we reviewed the student's past calculus exam and worked through all the questions again to make sure she understood the process in solving them and all the steps involved. We both worked through the problems together and we compared answers. We also began working on her homework assignment due this week. This session went well and I was able to get a general understanding of what the student needs. She is a bright girl and next week we are going to continue to work on her class problems and the conceptual aspects of calculus more than just working out problems.

Pre-Calculus Tutoring review by Michael in Melrose Park, IL
We reviewed more of the student's homework dealing with certain triangles with side lengths and angle measures defined by algebraic expressions. Depending on the type of triangle, we were then able to build equalities to solve for variables. This was easy for him and he's very good at those type of fundamental problems. Before we finished, I had him attempt to solve simultaneous equations with an "x" and "y" variable. He decided on the elimination technique to do so. Good session.

The student completed a math worksheet reviewing borrowing with fractions and long divisions. He began a new worksheet and corrected problems from a previous math worksheet. He showed me that he used his notebook to neatly complete his work! We also completed a language worksheet on how to identify and correct pronouns.
