Elementary Math Tutoring review by Naquita in Melrose Park, IL
The student and I covered using equations to find missing sections of angles, finding percentages, and relating percentages with fractions and decimals. He did well with each of these topics. We focused most on making sure he said and wrote the correct equations to find angle values.

Today we spent the entire session working on math. We started with the student's Unit 4 online test. He was able to complete most problems without help. He scored 100% on the test! Afterwards, we worked on the next section of math which focused on inequalities. He remembered these topics from a previous class, but we reviewed by doing a few example problems. Overall, he did a great job. I believe that he is ready to take the rest of his math quizzes for the week on his own.

Elementary Math Tutoring review by Lalitha in Melrose Park, IL
Today the student wanted me to help him work on his homework regarding triangles. With my guidance (reading the questions to him, prompting him to respond, and telling him where to write his answers) he completed the questions on his own. He remembered what the different kinds of triangles meant and how to calculate missing angles. The only thing he needed help with was equilateral triangles. I was really impressed with his performance today. He knew his work, got through more questions than he usually does (he finished all his homework), paid more attention, and even wrote the answers down on his sheet. I think he enjoys drawing triangles and likes the visual aspect of geometry. He even connected his work to games he plays on the computer.

Elementary Math Tutoring review by Kenneth in Melrose Park, IL
This week we reviewed addition, subtraction and multiplication with whole numbers and fractions. This was done through problems and word problems. Division of whole numbers was also reviewed. We also reviewed angles, perimeter, area, and parallel and perpendicular lines. He is a very bright student and was not struggling with these concepts. He has a very positive attitude toward math. The greatest win for this session is seeing him work through problems on paper. He was reluctant to do this at the beginning sessions, but now will automatically work these problems out and show all of his work.

Elementary Math Tutoring review by Jeanne in Melrose Park, IL
In this session, the student and I reviewed her spelling and math homework. I helped her with a short essay about how she wanted to be a veterinarian when she grows up. We worked on spelling exercises that she had been assigned, including memorization and alliteration. She learns quickly and is eager to learn.

Elementary Math Tutoring review by Caroline in Melrose Park, IL
During this session, the student and I reviewed math tests that were returned that needed corrections. The student knew the basics of how to complete the questions; however, she made minor errors because she did not pay attention while completing her work. For example, in Part A of a problem, she estimated the area by multiplying, but in Part B, she added to find the actual area. The student needs to be reminded to focus and pay attention to her work. We will continue to work on this next session.
