I have a PhD in organic chemistry. Therefore, I prefer to tutor organic chemistry, but I can help with general chemistry as well. Hey! My name is Ander and I currently attend Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI. I am pursuing a B.S. in Finance and a minor in Marketing or Pre-Law (haven't decided yet). My hope and goal is that the students who love math will see the math in art and those who love art will see art in math. Most of all, I hope my students find a passion for learning.

I am currently a branch librarian just outside of Minneapolis/St. Paul. I received my Masters in Library and Information Science, with a youth services focus, from Simmons College in Boston, MA. I earned my Bachelor of Arts, a dual degree in Writing Intensive English and Journalism, with a Minor in History, from Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI. Since completing my education I’ve worked in a wide variety of academic settings from an inner city middle school in Cambridge, MA to an elite private preschool-12th grade school in Baton Rouge, LA, to a charter school focused on Hmong culture and heritage in St. Paul. My role in the Charter School in St. Paul was that of reading tutor with Minnesota Reading Corps, because of this and my literature background, I am most comfortable with reading and writing instruction. I also worked on reading and writing while volunteering at 826 Boston. In addition to reading and writing instruction for students of all ages, I have experience tutoring and teaching all subjects studied in early elementary school. I gained this experience from tutoring students at 826 Boston and subbing consistently at the school in Louisiana. I believe that tutoring sessions should be educational and skills increased, but it should also be fun, and if a student’s confidence in a subject area increases, then I feel I am succeeding. Once confident in their ability to achieve their goals, I find students are more likely to put forth the effort and eventually achieve their goal. In addition to teaching and tutoring, I like running, yoga, reading, scrapbooking, and generally staying fit in mind and body.

I am a graduate of the Creighton University School of Medicine where I received my M.D. I received my Bachelor's of Science in Biomedical Sciences with a minor in Philosophy at Marquette University in 2018. During my time at Marquette, I tutored General Biology and General Chemistry, and I was a teaching assistant for Organic Chemistry lab. Not only did I enjoy teaching students my age, but I also pursued teaching opportunities for younger students in high school and middle school. I was a gross anatomy instructor for high school students taking tours through the cadaver labs and I was one of the founders of the Marquette Brain Brigade, where a group of undergraduate students came up with demos/lessons in neuroscience to teach middle school students. Moreover, I sought out private tutoring opportunities at a company called Huntington Learning Center both during undergrad and during medical school where I tutored a wide variety of subjects, including ACT/SAT, for virtually all age groups. I am very comfortable teaching various subjects and ages, and I am a laid back and flexible person. The subjects I am most comfortable teaching would be the sciences anywhere from the basic level to graduate school level. I am so grateful for the educators that allowed me to pursue my dream of becoming a doctor, and I would love to pass it on and help younger students achieve their goals.I am now a Resident Physician at the University of Wisconsin-Madison where I am completing my 4-year residency in anesthesiology.

I am a current student at Marquette University. I am majoring in Mechanical Engineering and will be earning a bachelors as well as a masters degree in 5 years total. My focus on mechanical engineering and systems is due to my love of putting things together and drawing conclusions from physical representations. This was instilled at a young age as I had a deep love of Legos.My favorite subject to tutor is algebra. Algebra features so many of the basic mathematical tools which become instinct in higher level math like calculus, my favorite subject to study.I have a varied repertoire of subjects which I tutor as I do consider myself a renaissance man. I bring my bold and fresh teaching approach to all subjects and students. I have experience tutoring and/or taking coursework in all subjects listed. I have worked with students as young as middle school and as old as college.

I know as a student, whatever age you may be, you will have trouble with some schoolwork. I went through the exact same things, and luckily, I had a tutor, someone who knew exactly what the subject was about and taught me how to solve the problem, without solving it themselves. I aim to be that same person to any student, who is having trouble with certain subjects at school.

Education is the building block for a better future. I come from a family of educators, including my parents and grandparents, who instilled in me the importance of education. I want to become a STEM teacher because I want to educate, guide, and inspire students to become the next generation of scientists who can change the world. I believe that my job as a tutor is to encourage students to become lifelong learners by providing a learning environment that simulates critical thinking without fear of asking questions. I try to help students understand the fundamental concepts by instilling confidence in their knowledge, providing various learning techniques, and connections to the real world that inspires curiosity. I find it rewarding to help a student understand a new, challenging concept. By creating a classroom that simulates critical thinking and a desire to learn, I believe I have provided the tools for my students to be successful as they move throughout their college career. Helping to create the next generation of scientists has inspired me to become a better scientist and I will continue to challenge my students as well as myself in the future.

I love learning and if I can help someone else learn or stay organized, great! I am an environmental engineer by training and love finding new ways to solve problems. I am a patient teacher, organized and love learning about people. I have many years of experience in Montessori teaching methods and its ability to help foster an innate love of learning. I recognize that there are many different learning styles and try to cater my help to each learner and what motivates them.I completed my undergraduate degree at Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI in Environmental Engineering with an emphasis in Water. During that time, I traveled with Engineers without Borders to work on a water purification project and an electrification project. I also worked for three semesters as a student co-op doing engineering process work. I completed my master's degree at the University of Minnesota also in Environmental Engineering with an emphasis in international sustainable development and water engineering. I currently accepted a position at ARCADIS engineering consultants in downtown Indy and am enjoying learning about the city.I enjoy traveling internationally and have been to China, Guatemala (with Engineers without Borders), Italy and India (for my master's degree). There are always new places to explore!
