History Tutoring review by Kirsten in Sandy, UT
Today we finished reviewing the student's third exam, which dealt with hypothesis testing, finding the results of the test, and interpreting the p-value and results. We looked at how to find the sample size (n) necessary to test for a proportion with a desired margin of error. Finally, we reviewed linear regression, how to find the correlation coefficient (r), the equation of a line, the slope, and the coefficient of determination (r2), and what these all mean in relation to the data. I think she is ready for her exam!

History Tutoring review by George in Sandy, UT
Today we reviewed linear equations. The examples with parallels and perpendiculars went very well, using both point-slope and slope-intercept forms. The airplane examples were set up properly. In one case, we had a simple error in subtraction result in a bad answer. We used this to discuss the importance of checking the result, and catching our own errors. We then talked a little about definitions. This was a good session.

History Tutoring review by Dr. Melissa in Sandy, UT
The student and I worked on reading flashcards and moving cars to show completion. We ended up putting together a USA program and reading and looking at states; he seemed intrigued with the geography and reading. Our last activity was hiding letters and making word lists. Kinesthetic activities seem to engage him best. He had an excellent attitude today!

History Tutoring review by Maria in Sandy, UT
Today the student and I went over her review packet for her test on Monday. It was about macromolecules, their functions and structures, and other questions that related to that. She is doing well overall and I think she will do well on the test. I think that by organizing definitions such as how carboxyl groups are different than carbonyl groups and how nucleotides are structured, the student gained more understanding in the material. I have some notes over what we covered just as a supplement to her review, and I think breaking the material down into groups for review and understanding the why behind questions is the best way to study for AP Bio exams. I wish her good luck on her test and I hope AP Bio continues to do well for her!
