Tutoring review by Isadora in Summit, IL
We spent the session going over a couple extra review problems that the student's teacher had posted online on material they had just learned in class that day (similar polygons and finding corresponding side lengths and angle measurements). Although this was new material, the concepts weren't completely new- it is mostly an application of standard geometric and proportional types of equations and problems. He had a little bit of a hard time making this jump and realizing that he actually did know how to do this math. It can be confusing when a subject is presented from a different perspective to pick up on what you already know, so I'm going to work more on this with him in our upcoming sessions.

Tutoring review by Jessica in Summit, IL
Today the student and I reviewed her algebra 2 homework, her chemistry homework, and her essay. For algebra, we worked on solving square and cube root functions. In order to help her with her essay, I tried to help her remember certain events that may add to her personal essay. She did very well today and does not seem to be struggling on anything in particular; however, more practice on math problems will help her to become more comfortable with the material.

The student and I reviewed foundational concepts in trigonometry. We reviewed from the beginning the six trigonometric ratios. Using calculators, we discussed how to find ratios and how to use inverse functions. In addition, we reviewed the definitions of reciprocal trigonometric functions and how to apply them. Finally, we reviewed how to convert degrees to minutes (of degrees). The student completed the practice problems successfully. Starting on Saturday, we will begin reviewing for his final exam.

Tutoring review by Liban in Summit, IL
We wrapped up reviewing study questions. We focused on coordinate geometry and application of trig functions. I made a cheat sheet containing formulas and equations for certain situations. We also went over a previous test in calculus. We covered limits and how to calculate them. He only had a concern with how to determine whether a limit existed or not. He takes a quiz on Tuesday.
