I believe that everyone can learn, provided the teacher finds the proper channel through which to reach the students.I was born in Martinique, raised in Paris where I studied latin, Greek and philosophy. I have a DUEL from University of Paris X/Nanterre. I later moved to New York City and Chicago where I obtained a Bachelors in jazz Performance/Upright bass. I also graduated from DePaul University with a Masters in Education and from Vandercook College of Music with a Masters in Music Education. I have taught music in the chicago Public school system, as well as tutoring students of all ages in French, since it is my native language. I do miss speaking my language and I am still an avid reader of French literature, be it the classic or the most recent literature of the francophone world: Africa and the Caribbean.I am passionate about sharing my language and my culture and hope I can share this passion.

I have a passion for the French language that my students recognize after the first lesson. My students range from pre-schoolers and elementary students, to high schoolers, college students and adults who seek better grades, better jobs or just want to become fluent.I have been teaching French online for 5 years and have taught French for 2 years in a private Academy in Spain.Over the years, I have also freelanced for many corporations translating legal documents, literature, advertising print work and other materials from English to French and vice versa.I customize my classes and methods for each student depending on their needs and level of knowledge. I use part of the first lesson to learn about their learning style in order to help them achieve their goals more efficiently. I focus the lessons on grammar, improving vocabulary and pronunciation while reading, writing, listening and speaking!My goal is to instill the love of learning a foreign language to my students. I usually suggest starting with two sessions per week for better improvement in the first month.

I am currently a doctoral candidate in clinical psychology, but I have been tutoring ever since I was in elementary school. Because not everyone learns the same way, I feel that it is easy for students to miss certain tidbits or whole subjects in the classroom, and it can quickly feel like it is too late to catch up. My goal is to work together to pick up the pieces that were lost or are close, but not quite there: learning the way you want to learn and the way you learn best rather than having topics taught at you.For standardized testing: I have taken the special classes and labored through the workbooks to prepare for taking the exams myself. The trick is to learn the test and know how to beat it with the right tools, and I am eager to pass along what I have learned from years of studying for and taking standardized tests. There is nothing quite like sitting down in the testing room and feeling cool, calm, and collected, and I want to help others feel confident, not terrified, when they take their exams.

In late 2019, I had the opportunity to work as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the College of Lake County (for an English Composition I class). I also had the honor and privilege of working as a Peer Writing Tutor for DePaul University's Writing Center. After graduating from high school I joined the United States Marine Corps. I spent 4.8 years in the corps, and was stationed overseas the entire time (Okinawa, Hungary, Kosovo). I have traveled to over 15 countries, and have developed a fascination for learning about different ethnic cultures. I enjoyed my time in the corps, and do my best to always try to incorporate my stories into my lesson plans. I am currently pursuing my TESOL certificate (Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages).For over 10 years I have tutored fellow students, coworkers, high school students, college students, ESL learners, and adults. During my undergrad program I was a writing tutor for not only fellow University Of Illinois at Chicago students, but also for students at Jones College Prep. During my graduate program I also tutored at Jones, and at Whitney M. Young Magnet School. I enjoy tutoring because I like helping students make sense of difficult topics. I received my education from Roosevelt University. I graduated and received my Master of Arts in Education with a focus on Special Education. After gathering the proper licenses and endorsements, I began teaching math to the general population of students and to students with special needs. I have worked both in online and physical classroom settings. I've been teaching and tutoring for over 15 years and counting. The students that I taught ranged from grade level students in Mathematics to high school level students in Algebra and Geometry. I enjoy helping students achieve to their fullest potential. I am currently working to complete a bachelor's degree in Mathematics at Roosevelt University with a minor in Computer Science. Aside from tutoring math, I like to spend my time outside of school writing and recording music. I play guitar, sing, and occasionally make my own beats. If I'm not making music, maybe you'll find me eating tacos or pasta. When it comes to tutoring, I feel comfortable working with both higher and lower levels of math.
