Since high school, I have found myself frequently volunteering to help my friends and friends of friends with their homework. Being able to answer a question that is posed before you is a great feeling and I enjoy helping people reach that feeling of satisfaction and pride in themselves for accomplishing a task that may have seemed like a challenge.I spent many years working as a sports camp counselor for elementary and high school aged children and have thoroughly enjoyed those experiences. The same energy and passion I brought to sports camp, I try to channel into my tutoring. I always ensure I stay motivated, engaged, and having fun so that my students will (hopefully!) feel the same. Simply put, I try to make learning and assignments not feel like a chore and pay attention to respond to the personality of the student so they feel that I am personally invested in their successes.

I earned my undergraduate degree at Marquette University in Mechanical Engineering. My focus was in thermal sciences, specifically combustion and heat transfer. While at Marquette I did research on thermal transfer in turbulent flow. While at Marquette, I spent a summer at Northwestern University doing research in bandgap theory and kinetic energy harvesters. I moved back to my hometown of Chicago to get my Masters at Illinois Institute of Technology. I studied Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering with a focus in Thermal Science and Fluid Mechanics. I have a strong passion for the academic realm and believe only through a strong background in theory can you develop an excellent practical engineering ability. In my spare time I enjoy camping, hiking, and swimming. I also help out at my local Boy Scout troop. I am a bit of a nerd and play many table top board games.

I'm working on my third college degree - a post-baccalaureate degree in computer science. My previous degrees are in engineering and architecture. I will soon have a decade of experience with professors, homework, and tests. And I've been tutoring since the beginning of my college career.I teach for the same reason that I learn - I enjoy it. Every student learns differently, and so everyone I teach pushes me to learn the material in a new way.

I am a graduate of Illinois Institute of Technology. I received my Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering with a focus on Backend Software Development. During my stay in Illinois Tech I had experience as a Teaching Assistant (Java) for two years. Since graduation, I have worked as Software Engineer in various companies.I tutored a broad range of subjects during high school such as Math, Physics and Chemistry, I am most passionate about Math, Calculus, and Geometry. In my experience helping struggling students prepare for Math and Physics, I try to explain difficult definitions and solutions in an understandable easy way. I don't generally give direct solution, rather motivate students by giving clues and make them find a way to get around the problem which help their confidence. In my free time, I enjoy watching & playing soccer and tennis.

I meet students where they are; I identify strengths, where they need to improve, and how I can best help them. The goal is to ultimately, allow students to be their own tutor, to gain independence as a learner. You can teach someone to fish and they will be full for life. I worked with students of all ranges, from middle school to adult learners in multiple settings, classroom, online, in between.I obtained an undergraduate in Biology with teaching at Temple University in Philadelphia, and I'm currently getting a masters in environmental engineering at Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago.
