Dylan currently attends Columbia University in the City of New York, and is pursuing a Bachelors Degree in Psychology with concentrations in Business Management and Classics. He grew up just north of Seattle after spending the first two years of his life in Washington, D.C., and plans to split his time between New York and Seattle in upcoming summers. Dylan discovered his passion for mentoring on the lacrosse field in high school while helping to run summer youth lacrosse camps, and became involved in academic tutoring through his high school soon after. He believes that common foundations of learning exist across many disciplines, and values a specific and flexible approach to any topic to best apply those ideas and ensure individual enjoyment and success for every student. In the spare time he manages to carve out of his schedule, he enjoys playing lacrosse, attempting to keep up with movies, rooting on the New England Patriots and reading.

I am currently working as a medical scribe at a family practice and aspire to become a doctor. In my experience, it can be a fun finding new ways to approach difficult concepts! In my free time, I enjoy dancing, practicing yoga, volunteering and reading!

I am a graduate from Georgetown University, where I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics with a minor in Music. I'm currently pursuing a Master's of Science in Business Analytics at Carnegie Mellon University. I've been tutoring since I started high school, focusing on mathematics and writing. Throughout my college career I was employed both privately and by Georgetown University to tutor peers and high school students in the Washington, D.C. area. I worked with students taking classes in all levels of mathematics falling under Algebra, Calculus, Combinatorics, and Problem Solving.I've always been passionate about mathematics. With a strong academic background in English and writing, I communicate abstract mathematical ideas in a way that is best suited to each of my students' needs. At some point in the (hopefully) near future, I'd like to go to back to school in order to then work full-time as a college professor of mathematics.Aside from academics, I'm passionate about music and soccer. I've been a guitarist for most of my life, and am eager to pick up and learn about any instrument I can get my hands on. I've also played soccer for about as long as I can remember. Most recently, I play in pickup leagues around Pittsburgh. In college, I was fortunate enough to captain the Georgetown University Men's Club Soccer team for two years.Thank you, and best of luck in your academic endeavors!

I have a B.S in Biomedical Engineering from IIT and a Master's degree in Bioinformatics. I have been working as a tutor at a community college for a year and a half now, and I'm CLRA certified. I tutor pre-algebra, intermediate algebra, college algebra, geometry, trigonometry, calculus I, and statistics (Including statistics tests on TI83/84). My tutoring experience has been rewarding, as I have had the opportunity to meet many students with diverse cultural and academic backgrounds. It's my goal as a tutor to help students grasp the concepts and learn how to apply them, rather than simply accumulate information. I believe in students capabilities to learn and excel in math. During tutoring sessions, I do my best to break down the math problems into simpler ones, allowing the student to figure out the solution for the problem by him/herself. That way, I ensure that the student will be able to retrieve their math skills during the exams and score well.

Tutoring is much more individualized than larger classes. Each student can receive help based on their individual needs, making learning faster and more efficient. Accounting for each student's personal strengths and weaknesses makes tutoring far more personalized, fulfilling, and enjoyable. Standardized tests and science courses are my strong suit since those are areas where I have extensive research experience and can explain concepts clearly.I am a current Tufts undergraduate science major with experience teaching K-12 students. Additionally, I tutored students in reading comprehension, essay writing, and algebra. I also taught programming and coding lessons classes to control NAO robots and use Scratch to create movies or games.

I recently graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Science degree in Genetics. I have tutored Math and Science since I was a high school student through a volunteer program. The summer after graduating from high school I volunteered abroad and taught English to elementary and middle school students in impoverished areas of Taiwan. While obtaining my undergraduate degree, I tutored Math to local elementary and middle school students through a volunteer organization called MATHCOUNTS.I am a good tutor because I am very thorough while teaching, and I am very patient with students.

My first tutoring experience was in the 7th grade. I had a wonderful math teacher who allowed students, once they had finished their practice sets, to help others. I learned then that I had a knack for helping others understand math concepts. I did some tutoring in college and after graduation worked for several tutoring organizations before becoming an actual classroom teacher with Teach For America. Being in the classroom had its challenges and I realized I am more suited to one-on-one interaction with students where I can cater the teaching style to a student's specific needs. Since being a classroom teacher, I have volunteered with GED students with Urbana Adult Education in Urbana, Illinois. Currently, I am back in school and working full-time. I am also a professional musician. Thanks for visiting my profile!

I believe Art is a way of communicating ideas, emotions, and thoughts that would be difficult to express in other ways. Through the course of my artistic pursuits, I have gained an understanding of how art can affect even the most inexperienced artist in a positive and everlasting way. According to Barnes-Smith in expressive arts as a means of increasing well-being in children, "[Art] provides the opportunity for individuals to explore their emotions and inner selves in order to deal with stress, explore issues, and improve self-esteem through healthy and creative modes" (Barnes-Smith et al., 2015, p. 5). I believe this as I have experienced it in my own life. One of my goals is to share this knowledge and to help others experience the powerful healing attributes of art in all its forms.
