Writing has been central to everything I've done from covering local government as a newspaper editor to drafting Spanish-language content for an Argentine real estate firm to researching oral histories with U.S. veterans. Through these experiences, I've learned that strong writing isn't just about grammar; it's about clarity of thought, precision of language, and knowing your audience. As a journalism major who has published more than 50 articles across multiple outlets and now pursues a law degree, I've had to write for drastically different purposes and readers. Whether a student is working on a five-paragraph essay or a college application, I can help them find their voice and sharpen their argument because I've had to do the same, over and over, across very different contexts. I'm detail-oriented, patient, and genuinely enthusiastic about the craft of writing. I'd love to help students build the confidence and skills to express themselves clearly and persuasively.

I'm an Undergraduate student at Loyola University Chicago in the Education program. I am studying Bilingual/Bi-cultural and Elementary Education as a major. I truly believe the key to a bright future begins in the classroom, and that each student deserves the chance to succeed in school and beyond. I strive to do all I can to give students the confidence, skills and knowledge they need to be the best versions of themselves they can be. I have taken classes in teaching and taught, in classrooms, Reading and Writing, Social Studies, Science, and, my personal favorite, Math, at the Elementary and Middle School levels. In addition, I have experience teaching music, study skills, public speaking, and, as a fluent Spanish speaker, varying levels of Spanish.
I love working with students! I love learning about students' interests and making tutoring sessions as meaningful and engaging as possible. Working through challenging subjects like reading portions of the ACT or math can actually be fun. We can learn a lot about ourselves through these experiences.I bring a love of music and sports and travel to the work I do. Honestly, everything we do can be an adventure if we approach it with the right attitude and perspective. I believe with the right support and guidance we can overcome just about any challenge we are presented with.I graduated with a Master's from DePaul University this past June with honors. I was the kid who barely squeezed out of high school. I get the struggles. But we have all the resources we need to overcome them!

I believe firmly that learning and exam preparation is a journey and I like to help students create their own path. I am a graduate of Loyola University Chicago, where I majored in political science. I am currently a law student at Chicago-Kent College of Law, and aspire one day to practice corporate law with a focus on financial compliance.I grew up in Silicon Valley and have seen what intense pressure to succeed does to young minds. Given my life experiences, I told myself that if I ever were to tutor, I would do so to assure students that everything would be okay and to work with them in a reduced-stress environment. My top three goals are to give students skills to succeed in life, to help them manage stress during this trying time in their lives, and to give them guidance for future success. My biggest joy in tutoring comes from working with students to figure out what works best for them and building relationships with them. Tutoring to me isn't just about giving information for them to recycle for a test, but rather giving students longstanding skills for problem-solving, exam preparation, and navigating high school and college. In addition to working with students on content for exams, I also program calculator programs for TI-84 calculators so that students can spend more time on problems that may take up more time.In my free time (when I have it), I work on curriculum for students, spend time with my friends and cat, and enjoy watching Frasier and Portlandia.

I graduated from University of Illinois at Chicago with a M.Ed. in Instructional Leadership in Elementary Education, with middle school Social Studies and Science endorsements. I also received a B.A in history at Loyola University Chicago. Apart from whole and small-group instruction, I have also tutored students individually at school, as well as adults in ESL instruction. I tutor all the main subjects up to 8th grade, as well as high school history. I am also bilingual in Arabic and can tutor in the subject for those interested. History has always been my favorite subject, for I'm treated to an engaging story in every class. I believe in a constructivist approach to learning, and will act as a guide for the student to learn, explore and wonder. Lecturing does not engage the student in learning, and will hinder their progress, so I make it a point to provide discussion-based instruction, where the student has an active role in his/her own learning. I have an eclectic taste in music, enjoy reading and swimming, and will never say no to a friendly board game or a game of touch football.
