I have 7 years of experience teaching grades K-12 and 14 years of experience tutoring students with and without learning disbilities. During this period, I have learned how to recognize and identify individual learning-personalities and common challenges students have.I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Biology at Benedictine University and my Master's Degree in Applied Data Science at the University of Michigan. Helping others is something I have always enjoyed, and one of the ways I like to do so is through tutoring. I strongly believe in creating visual and sequential learning patterns that enable students to understand and remember their coursework more easily.

Teaching has always been my passion, and I have had the opportunity to work with learners across a variety of educational settings and age groups. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Special Education, a Master's degree in Literacy, and a second Master's degree in Instructional Technology and Learning Systems (Instructional Design). I have a strong understanding of the reading process, from supporting beginning readers to helping adult learners build literacy and language skills. In addition, I have experience teaching mathematics to K8 students. I bring an open mind, positive attitude, and high expectations to every learning experience. I believe in creating a supportive and engaging environment that combines consistency, dedication, and warmth. My goal is to help learners build confidence, reach their potential, and develop a lifelong love of learning. I believe meaningful learning can happen at any age, and that every
I am a graduate of the University of Wisconsin Law School. I received my undergraduate degree - B.A. in English Literature and Secondary Education - from Benedictine University in Lisle, Illinois. My previous teaching/tutoring experience includes a semester of student teaching 11th grade students in English at James B. Conant High School and engaging in one-on-one tutoring in Reading and Language Arts. Additionally, I do possess some experience working with ESL students. I am equally passionate about teaching Literature (including Reading and Writing skills) as well as Social Sciences to students. Though teaching writing skills can be challenging at times, I find the effort to be worthwhile because I love watching students experience a sense satisfaction and achievement when they finally master the ability to successfully express themselves through their writing. My teaching and tutoring experiences have taught me that everyone learns at their own pace and that it is essential that an instructor possess patience and understanding in order to enable a student to learn successfully. Additionally, I am a strong believer in the philosophy that "practice makes perfect." No amount of studying theory or concepts will provide a student with the insight as to their strengths or weaknesses in a particular subject that actually requires a student to actively apply those theories or concepts to a learning exercise and/or problem. When I am not attending to the obligations of work and home, I have a number of interests I like to dabble in. I am an art lover and enjoy checking out the various collections at museums both in nearby areas and abroad. I am an amateur photographer and in high school I learned how to develop black and white photos in the darkroom. Additionally, I took my first screen printing class last year and quickly fell in love with this particular medium. I am hoping to take an intermediate level of screen printing sometime in the near future. I also love to travel and have been fortunate enough to visit some great places over the past few years. Next on my list of countries to visit include Spain, Portugal and Italy. I am still an avid reader, my favorite genres being historical fiction and biographies.

After earning my Bachelor of Science in Biology/Pre-medicine at California State University, San Bernardino, I completed a post-baccalaureate in the medical sciences at Ohio State University. Last year, I earned my Master of Public Health at Benedictine University with concentrations in Epidemiology and Health Education & Promotion. Overall, I have a deep love for learning and making complicated material simple. Thus, taking the minimal knowledge I have attained and sharing it with others is a passion I have developed while tutoring students and peers in Writing/Grammar, Anatomy and Physiology, Biology, Chemistry, and other MCAT-related topics. Nevertheless, I hope to make that passion a consistent part of my life by working with students right here on Varsity Tutors.
Hi! I'm a current 3nd year in medical school that is interested in pursing psychiatry (so hard to decide!). Before going to medical school, I obtained my MSBS. I graduated undergrad with a degree in biology. I have ample experience with medical school core, sciences, math, writing, and the humanities. My philosophy in teaching is that a student is capable of learning anything--it is a matter of finding a way that helps YOU learn. It is my goal to help you succeed!
I am passionate about fostering a genuine love for learning in my students. With a Master's in History and a Master's in Curriculum and Instruction, I bring over two years of tutoring experience alongside more than five years of classroom teaching. My specialties include AP US History, Geography, and Middle School Science, where I strive to connect concepts to real-world applications. For instance, when exploring historical events, I incorporate testimonials from individuals who experienced them firsthand, helping students grasp the significance of these moments. I believe that education should be engaging and relevant, and I am dedicated to creating a supportive learning environment where every student can thrive. My commitment to student success drives me to continually adapt my teaching methods, ensuring that each student feels valued and motivated to explore their potential.
Hi, I recently completed a B.S. in Biology, graduating Magna Cum Laude. I am working as an Emergency Department Technician while I prepare to go to graduate school to become a Physician Assistant.I love to learn and enjoy helping others find the satisfaction in growing and achieving their goals through learning. I believe it's important to learn the student's preferred learning style (visual/tactile/auditory) and adjusting the material to match the style. One's mind, once stretched by a new idea, never regains its original dimensions.-Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr.
I have a natural ability to connect with and educate people of all ages, which I have been doing for more than 16 years. My personal foundation is my enthusiasm for helping others. My mother taught early childhood development, and I just inherited her love of pouring into little people. Since my college days, when students still carried books, I've had experience working with students. I would assist my classmates while they worked on their class presentations, and it was simple for me to see how the content should be arranged. As soon as I learned something, I would impart it to someone else. Then people started coming to me for advice, so I decided to make it my career in 2006 and started teaching postsecondary nutrition science courses. I rapidly rose to the position of top professor at the school, and there was always a waiting list for my classes. My education began long before I entered a traditional school because my mother worked in early childhood development, but I formally began in an elementary magnet school, continued on to Morgan Park High School, then graduated and attended Northern Illinois University and completed my degree in four years. I went on to earn my master's degree in public health and finished my dietetic coursework to become a Registered dietitian. At Northcentral University, I'm finishing up a doctoral degree with a focus on executive function development, persistence, early college transition, and social capital principles. I can tutor in the areas of nutrition science, food service math, executive functioning development, and dietetic exam preparation, public speaking, writing; but I am most passionate about executive functioning development (time management, organization, attention, and self-control) because there are so many resources, tools, and strategies that can be shared with everyone. My approach to teaching is to make the classroom a welcoming and comfortable place where students may explore their interests and learn more about their interests while turning those interests into information that will help them in their chosen goals. I firmly believe in providing pupils with structure and standards so they can develop with support and interdependence. I provide useful information and technologies that extend learning outside of the classroom. Students need to feel confident that what they are trying to learn is doable and attainable; this is why my tutoring approach is friendly and accountability focused.

I am currently pursuing a Master's in Nutrition and Dietetics combined with a Dietetic Internship. In undergrad, I was a part of a tutoring program for elementary students in reading and writing. Additionally, I have experience tutoring privately in high school and college chemistry and nutrition. I am a medical student who took time off between my 3rd and 4th year to conduct orthopedic research at NYU medical center. I love the medical field and would like to pursue a career in orthopedics. The aspect of medicine that I hold most dearly is always having interaction and hopefully having a change to leave a positive impression. I enjoy meeting new people and hearing their story. If there is anything I can do to help them on their journey, it would be my pleasure. I grew up outside of Chicago, have travelled around the world, and snowboard as much as I can every winter. I've always been interested in medicine and that goal has always driven me to try my hardest and be all that I can be, not only in school, but in every aspect of life. That's my story, but I want to hear yours. Let me help you reach your goals.
I am a graduate of Benedictine University. I received by Masters degree in Nursing Education. Since receiving my degree, I have worked in a clinical setting as an educator so I am very familiar with the transition from theory to practice. I am passionate about helping students become knowledgeable about nursing theory so they are prepared to convert that theory to practice and become the best nurses they can be. The majority of my own practice has been in critical care nursing so I have a wealth of nursing experience to draw from and I love sharing my own experiences with new nurses.
