I was introduced to Java following my first CIS class covering C++. When I wrote my first program without having to worry about pointers or destructors, I was intrigued. When I leaned the underline concepts of object-oriented programming I was fascinated. But when I learned the industrial scope of Java and OOP I was hooked. That was 14 years ago. Today I enjoy introducing students to the power Java and object-oriented programming. Step by step, patient instruction, is what every student deserves, and this is what I am committed to delivering. See you in class ;)
I believe that everyone has the ability to learn. Interactive learning within a classroom is the method used most often, but there are times that, for students with varied learning styles, this changes. Differentiated instruction is the technique I often use to determine the best route for that student.
I am an open-minded, friendly, and logical individual with a solid and optimistic outlook on all things in life, in both my personal and professional aspects of life. I own an excellent ability to motivate others, coupled with the ability to communicate comfortably at all levels therefore ensuring an excellent relationship for all those that are involved in my life. My family and friends are important to me, as well as those that I relate with on a professional level. My goal is to continue building this understanding of others, by facilitating my self awareness abilities and empathic approach. Over my professional career, I have been fortunate to see and learn many things, both domestically and internationally; which has given me the opportunity to pass those learnings to other individuals, which is what brings me here as a tutor.
As a retired veteran of the US Army and teacher of 20+ years. I have experienced the world in both a hostile environment and as a guest on foreign soil. Life experience is the best way to feel alive and appreciate your background. Due to my humble beginnings, I want to give back by honoring parents, students of life and those on their academic journey by sharing my experience and intellect to assist those in need of assistance to the best of my abilities!
