I have a Master's degree in Public Health and Tropical Medicine from Tulane University and a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science from Texas A&M University. I am currently working on my teacher's certificate and am certified to teach life sciences for grades 7-12 in the state of Texas. I have taken all the prerequisites necessary for teaching and have a probationary teaching license from the state of Texas. I know how important tutoring can be in helping a student improve his or her grades and confidence. I have dyslexia/dysgraphia and benefited from tutoring when I was in school. Because of my learning disability, I understand that each student has a unique learning style. In the past, I tutored students from elementary school up to college. I have a love for science, teaching and tutoring, and look forward to working with individual students and helping them to reach their potential.

I graduated from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign in 2010 with a BA in French Language and Literature and a minor in Russian language and literature. About a year after I graduated, I was accepted to a program, run by the French government, to teach English in France. I spent a year in the eastern town of Belfort helping French students ages 15 - 20 with their English grammar and pronunciation. While there, I took advantage of the school holidays and traveled to several different European countries. After my contract finished, I spent two months traveling through Spain.My favorite subjects to tutor are literature based, as that is where my interests lie. I enjoy discussing books with my students and helping them realize the subtle nuances of the author's language. I also enjoy helping my students with their own writing, helping them find their unique style. For test prep, I enjoy the English, Reading and Writing portions and try to help my students do the same. I believe the more a student enjoys something the easier it will be for he or she to progress.

I was home schooled from first grade through twelfth. Up through eighth grade, I studied from the curriculum of Calvert School, a private liberal arts school in Baltimore Maryland. I am a graduate of Covenant College, a small liberal arts college in north Georgia. I earned a Bachelor of Arts in both Philosophy and Mathematics. My studies in Philosophy focused on metaphysics, philosophy of language, and logic. I received a Master of Science in Mathematics from the University of Tennessee, Chattanooga. After that I went to the University of Arizona to work on my PhD in Mathematics. I studied for three semesters, passed my qualifying examinations, and then decided to switch career paths. I am currently in a dual Masters program at Georgia State University studying Actuarial Science and Mathematical Risk Management in the Robinson College of Business.I have been private tutoring high school and college students in mathematics since 2007. I have also tutored post-college students in GRE preparation and in preparation for teaching Calculus 3. While continuing my studies I have had the opportunity to serve as a proof reader for the term papers and statements of purpose of other students. I also have experience of guiding a student through the process of writing a paper from scratch. This in particular was very rewarding.Mathematics is beautiful. I was led to it initially by its mystery, and I was drawn further by glimpses of its beauty. I enjoy tutoring Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, and Pre-calculus, and I get even more excited about the calculus sequence and the material that follows after it.For each student I tutor, I try to find out what motivates them. I am not someone who believes that advanced mathematics is something that every person uses on a daily basis. But I know that mathematics is older than writing and has emerged in every major civilization, and I believe that everyone can learn to see its beauty. Furthermore, I believe that mathematics is something that is learned by doing. As such, I tutor mathematics by leading the student with a series of guided questions. I aim for a balance between the abstract and the concrete by using several examples and asking the student about what patterns they notice.My personal interests include choreographed dance (particularly ballet and modern), reading (fiction and non-fiction), theology, world events, tech startups, and entrepreneurship.

I am a recent graduate from Wayne State University and I majored in Honors Psychology and minored in Nutrition and Food Science. I will be attending the University of Michigan Medical School in July 2020. During my free time, I like to read, cook and explore Detroit!

I am a graduate of Washington & Jefferson College, from where I received a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish, and I am working towards receiving a Doctor in Physical Therapy. During my time at W&J, I completed a semester Study Abroad program at the University of Navarra in Pamplona, Spain, where I studied intensely the Spanish language, history, and the culture. I have a passion for the Spanish language, which manifests in my membership in Sigma Delta Pi Spanish Honor Society, and in my tutoring Spanish for W&J College's Peer Assisted Learning Program. I am passionate for tutoring Spanish because I believe that learning language gives a better understanding of all aspects of life and opens doors to many more opportunities. Outside of academia, I enjoy traveling, sports, reading, and volunteering.
