Pre-Calculus Tutoring review by Tyler in Niles, IL
The student did great work during this last session. We spent all of the session preparing for his test on Friday. He showed proficiency in several subjects, including the visual presentation of squared and cubed numbers and differentiating between the square of a negative number and the negative of a squared number, as well as applying this knowledge to solve inequalities.

Pre-Calculus Tutoring review by Claire in Niles, IL
The student and I went over the material for his upcoming quiz on sections 2-1 to 2-5. We practiced on how to solve linear equations and how to graph them. We went over how to use the slope formula, finding the formula of the graph by organizing the equation to y = mx + b, working with word problems, and solving inequalities. Overall, he understood the material very well. We decided that he would take a new approach for studying for his exams, which is to take notes for each section of the chapter. He will write down notes, vocabulary, keypoints, a summary of the section, and also any questions he has for me. Each day of the week, he will email me his notes so I can check his progress, understanding of the material, and answer any questions he may have. This way he will also have study material prepared for his bio exam.

Pre-Calculus Tutoring review by Aamod in Niles, IL
The student thought her exam went pretty well. There were a few small issues she encountered, but she was able to work around most of them. One question involving splitting a diagonal direction of travel into separate vertical and horizontal velocity vectors confused her. I went over a sample problem involving similar concepts in order to illustrate what she was missing so that she wouldn't be stumped by such a problem in the future. This would also provide her with some good background in physics problems as well. Her class started learning about the Law of Sines, and after helping her with her work, I also taught her a little bit about the Law of Cosines, which was the next thing she would be learning about.

Pre-Calculus Tutoring review by Kevin in Niles, IL
The student and I went over some of her old quizzes to correct errors and figure out what is going on. For the most part, she understands how to do the problems. She just needs more practice figuring out what method to apply. If she practices a variety of problems, I think that will help her with that decision-making.

Pre-Calculus Tutoring review by David in Niles, IL
Today, we completed the study plan, practice test (15 questions), test (15 questions), and discussion/reflection on the final module (Intro to limits and calculus). We then completed the course review. All tasks for semester 2 pre-calculus are now completed except for an Assessment, Practice Exam, and Final Exam on the entire semester-long course. On the study plan, we indicated that the student will have the whole course completed by December 17. This will give plenty of time to study for the final exam, since it is closed notebook.
