Physical Chemistry Tutoring review by Gregory in West Valley City, UT
We covered linkage, recombination, nucleotide structure, and DNA replication. The student seemed very comfortable with the majority of the material. We talked about relaxing before the exam. I will be providing her with review problems tomorrow.

Physical Chemistry Tutoring review by Paris in West Valley City, UT
The student and I went over and completed problems regarding stoichiometry, mass-mole conversions, limiting reagents, percent yields, and thermochemistry. Overall, while the student has not done these topics in quite a while and he was rusty when we first completed the problems, he was able to pick up the concepts again and complete the problems mostly by himself once I went over a few examples with him. He mainly needs work in understanding the conceptual points of chemistry better (as he himself stated his weakness was in the theoretical questions part of the SAT II Chemistry test) and in refreshing his chemistry knowledge. He genuinely wants to do well and we will work through reinforcing his content knowledge for this week before plunging into the practice SAT II Chemistry questions.

Physical Chemistry Tutoring review by Camilla in West Valley City, UT
This was my first tutoring session with this student, during which I helped him prepare for his AP Biology test. We covered topics of his preference, including biological reaction free energy changes, water potential, and cellular structure and function. I went over the conceptual and mathematical aspects of these topics, making use of his textbook, class notes, and worksheets, as well as examples of my own choosing. He had a firm grasp of all topics and asked constructive questions to strengthen his understanding. I look forward to working with him again. In future sessions, I encouraged him to send me a list of questions or class materials so that we can most effectively use the session in person.

Physical Chemistry Tutoring review by Ryan in West Valley City, UT
Today we covered ICE tables. The first thing I would always suggest is to convert each gas into a partial pressure, and plug in the initial values they give, as well as any other values. Next, add and subtract x in the ratio of the balanced equation, and plug into the equilibrium constant. Regarding Le Chatelier's principle: against an external stressor, your equation will try to rebalance itself, finding an equilibrium that is defined for that new surrounding--this means that if you decrease volume, you will privilege the side of the equation with less moles of gas, in order to minimize the change in pressure.

Physical Chemistry Tutoring review by Todd in West Valley City, UT
In this session we covered details of the pyruvate dehydrogenase complex and the synthesis of acetyl-CoA from pyruvate, we covered details of the entire citric acid cycle, and we covered a few broad concepts for the purpose of placing the TCA cycle within its larger biochemical framework. I suggested a strategy for this material which is to practice drawing the cycle repeatedly from memory in order to recreate it at the beginning of the test. Both students grasped the material quite well and were able to accurately draw 80% of the TCA cycle from memory by the end of the session (including intermediates, enzymes, and products).

We went over stoichiometry. The student had difficulty with the concept when we first started and opened up towards the end of the lecture. She has a test to take on this subject in 2 weeks and needs to catch up with the material.
