Organic Chemistry Tutoring review by Reina in West Valley City, UT
The student says she has not gone over much in her Biology class, so we went through the first half of her study guide for the exam. We went over evolution (terms and definitions), Darwin's theories, genetics (terms and definitions), and began working on Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium problems. She seemed to be familiar with the terms and concepts we discussed, so potentially she has had gone over these things in class. She did seem to understand the topics we discussed in our session, which will reinforce what she has already learned in class and/or help her understand topics to be discussed in her class.

We completed the student's Pogil activities for both the membrane structure and membrane function units. I believe she has a solid understanding of membrane dynamics, which should play a large role in her success on her next exam. We also began to review her recent lecture on xylem and phloem dynamics and the movement of nutrients. She was attentive and responsive!

Organic Chemistry Tutoring review by Kelie in West Valley City, UT
We reviewed for the student's final exam coming up this week. Specifically, we did practice problems from the review packet his teacher gave him. These included problems about limiting reagents, redox balancing, empirical formulas, naming and writing compounds, solubility, finding molecular formulas, drawing structures, and dilutions, among other things. He didn't remember how to do all of the problems, but it came back to him quickly as we were working through them together, and even when he had forgotten the steps, he was still familiar with the concepts. We didn't get a chance to go through the whole packet, but we did all of the problems that he was most worried about.

We worked a problem on electric field and electric force. The student is good at visualizing the field in 2 dimensions, and at setting up the equations from the vector diagrams. We worked again on some old AP Physics B problems.

Organic Chemistry Tutoring review by Saagar in West Valley City, UT
Today the student and I covered stoichiometry, limiting reagents, excess reagents, theoretical/ actual/ perfect yields, balancing reactions, converting from moles to g/L/RP. The student needed help with problem set up so I provided him with some guides and tools to help him out. He had a good attitude towards material. He had extra questions to practice with.

Organic Chemistry Tutoring review by Nick in West Valley City, UT
The student had a problem set to work on, so we discussed the concepts covered in those problems. We re-derived the equation for work from a spring and reviewed solving systems of differential equations. Through the process of approaching these problems, the student improved significantly in recognizing when to use the work-kinetic energy theorem versus the definition of kinetic energy to solve energy-based problems.
