Chemistry Tutoring review by LaSara in Matteson, IL
Today we reviewed some concepts that were on the student's previous exam. I asked her to point out some areas where she still did not have a good understanding so I could explain them in more details. I started by asking her to explain general concepts such as the Aufbau Principle and Pauli Exclusion Principle. Next we looked at isotopes and how they differed from natural elements. She was able to explain the meaning of an isotope and work through practice problems. We explored a few periodic trends and I gave her a mnemonic to help her remember the trends that her teacher expected her to know. Afterwards we reviewed electron configurations. I gave her some practice problems and she was able to answer them correctly without any help. It was a good session.
