The student and I first reviewed her last test which she received a high C on. We went over the questions when she had gotten points taken off of on a test that covered graphing trigonometric functions. We reviewed the algebraic definition of odd and even functions. We also proceeded to work on the next assignment that involved proving trigonometric identities, the Pythagorean identities, the co-functions, and the basic definitions of the trigonometric functions.

It was a pleasure to see the student again. She wanted me to help her understand calculus in a more specific way, and not just by learning abstract proofs. During our sessions, I will attempt to ground these proofs in more specific drills and problems. Today, we took a look at her class's online curriculum. The class focuses on some review from calculus one, including Riemann sums, and branches into some of the aspects of calculus two, which deal with the interchangeability of integrals and derivatives, probability density functions, and the fundamental theorem of calculus. We will begin exploring the topics in more depth during our next session. I look forward to an exciting and informative semester working with the student.

Math Tutoring review by Kevin in Tustin, CA
Today the student and I went over more of his homework problems. They mainly involved evaluating definite and indefinite integrals of trigonometric functions. He seems to have a good understanding of the process of solving such problems but he needs to work on his fundamentals (trig identities, expanding polynomials, etc.) a bit more.
