Today was our last session.  I gave him another vocabulary quiz.  I recommended several flash cards for Ian to continue to study.  The results on his test were impressive.  His math was at approximately 770, Verbal around 740 but reading dropped to about 700.  I recommended that he continue to work through the active reading handout that we had begun.  I gave him the answer key to this 35 page workbook for his continued practice.  We spent the last 20 minutes talking about test taking psychology and the factors of focus, intensity and endurance that are necessary for maximum performance.  We talked about his challenges, strengths, and areas for continued work.  I advised him to take the test at least two times, with one in October and one in December.  He should not put down any schools to send results to.  This allows him to view his results before deciding whether or not to send them.  I told him to let me know how he does.

The student did not have any homework today, so I gave her a basic pre-test in certain areas of Algebra, which are certain points of emphasis and fundamental to her success in Algebra.  She did not remember all of the concepts, however when she was shown how to do them, she did well with solving the problems. I gave her some extra problems to work on, and we will be meeting again next Sunday to cover more items.
